The Bussi sul Tirino jazz festival, held in the Parco della Quercia Rossa since 1986
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Bussinjazz is one of the longest-running jazz festivals in Abruzzo, with a history dating back to 1986 in the town of Bussi sul Tirino, in the province of Pescara. For nearly forty years, the event has enlivened the village's summer evenings with live concerts, establishing itself as a staple for jazz enthusiasts across the region.
The festival is dedicated to the memory of Mario Bucci, considered one of the greatest exponents of Abruzzo jazz, and is organized today by the Bussinjazz Mario Bucci ETS Association. An ARCI-affiliated cultural organization, the association passionately carries forward a project that combines musical education, the promotion of the village, and support for emerging musicians, who often perform alongside established national artists.
The heart of the event is the Parco della Quercia Rossa, located along Via della Repubblica, where concerts are held outdoors during summer evenings. The setting is a small town nestled between the Gran Sasso massif and some of the most beautiful nature reserves in central Italy, where the Tirino River, one of the clearest in Europe, defines the landscape. Jazz notes drift under the stars in a setting that perfectly blends quality music with nature.
The program alternates between jazz standards, blues, soul, and singer-songwriter performances, featuring quintets, big bands, and original projects. Over the years, the festival has hosted both local Abruzzo ensembles and artists from all over Italy, with a special focus on young talents awarded in major national competitions.
Bussinjazz is much more than a series of concerts: it is a way to showcase the inland Abruzzo region and its cultural heritage through music. The festival is traditionally free to attend, with the goal of making jazz accessible to everyone and attracting visitors and enthusiasts to Bussi sul Tirino from outside the region.
Bussinjazz returns in 2026 to Bussi sul Tirino, in the province of Pescara. The official dates and the lineup for the 2026 edition have not yet been released: the festival traditionally takes place during the summer, in the month of July, at the Parco della Quercia Rossa. Information will be updated as soon as the Bussinjazz Mario Bucci ETS Association publishes the program.
Bussi sul Tirino can be reached by car via the A25 Rome-Pescara motorway (Bussi-Popoli exit). The town is also served by the Bussi-Popoli railway station on the Rome-Pescara line.
Concerts are held at the Parco della Quercia Rossa, along Via della Repubblica. Performances typically start late in the evening, around 9:30 PM.
Admission is generally free. For the updated program and dates, it is recommended to check the channels of the Bussinjazz Mario Bucci ETS Association.
