Burgstall Volunteer Fire Brigade Festival (Burgstaller Feuerwehrfest)

A village festival hosted by the volunteer firefighters

The Fest der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr Burgstall, also known as the Burgstaller Feuerwehrfest, is the annual celebration organized by the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Burgstall, the volunteer fire brigade of the town of Postal/Burgstall, located in the autonomous province of Bolzano in the heart of South Tyrol. The event takes place at the Feuerwehrhalle, the fire station at Kirchweg 8, transforming the area into a vibrant meeting point for the entire community for a full day.

Frühschoppen and the Musikkapelle

The festival follows the traditional format of South Tyrolean village fairs. The morning kicks off with the Frühschoppen, the popular social gathering where locals and visitors enjoy beer, wine, and local specialties. By mid-morning, the Musikkapelle Burgstall, the local brass band, takes the stage to accompany lunch with a repertoire of traditional Tyrolean music. The event also features food stalls serving authentic South Tyrolean dishes, managed by the volunteers and local associations.

Fun for families and children

In the afternoon, the festival focuses on families: in collaboration with VKE Burgstall (the association for playgrounds and children's leisure), various games and activities are organized for the little ones, who also get the chance to see the fire brigade's vehicles and equipment up close. It is a wonderful way to showcase the vital role of the volunteer rescue corps in the life of the community.

Evening live music

As evening approaches, the festival shifts gears and turns into a musical event: live bands and artists take the stage, followed by an unmissable afterparty with a DJ to keep the night going. The combination of brass music, local gastronomy, and evening concerts makes the Feuerwehrfest one of the most anticipated events in the Postal calendar.

The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Burgstall is, like all volunteer fire brigades in South Tyrol, a pillar of local life: they respond to fires, accidents, and natural disasters thanks to the selfless commitment of their members.
