About Buongiorno Ceramica Sesto

Buongiorno Ceramica! is the national festival dedicated to Italian artistic ceramics. In Sesto Fiorentino, home to the historic Manifattura Ginori di Doccia, the event transforms museums, squares, and workshops into a vast open-air studio. For a weekend in May, the Archivio della Ceramica Sestese and various city venues host free exhibitions, live demonstrations, workshops for all ages, and guided tours. It is a celebration of the ceramic identity of this town in the heart of the Florence Metropolitan Area.

Buongiorno Ceramica! in Sesto Fiorentino

Buongiorno Ceramica! is a major widespread festival promoted by the AiCC (Italian Association of Ceramic Cities). Every May, it simultaneously engages dozens of Italian municipalities in hundreds of events dedicated to artistic and artisanal ceramics. In Sesto Fiorentino, within the Florence Metropolitan Area, the event takes on special significance: the town is home to the historic Manifattura Ginori di Doccia, one of the oldest and most prestigious European porcelain manufacturers, founded in 1737.

The heart of the festival: the Archivio della Ceramica Sestese

The focal point of the events is the Archivio della Ceramica Sestese, located at Via Girolamo Savonarola 37, which hosts exhibitions, multisensory paths, and workshops. Here, visitors can admire displays that recount the deep bond between Sesto Fiorentino and ceramic art, from evidence of the Manifattura Ginori production process to local traditional decorations and iconographic themes.

Exhibitions, workshops, and demonstrations

During the festival, the city comes alive with a rich, free program that blends culture, education, and entertainment:

  • Exhibitions dedicated to the history of the Manifattura Ginori and Sesto ceramics;
  • Multisensory paths such as "Vietato non toccare" (Do Not Touch Forbidden), designed to discover works through touch and other senses;
  • Creative workshops for children, teenagers, and adults, focused on clay decoration and manipulation;
  • Live demonstrations with artisans and master ceramicists;
  • Guided tours of museums and local ceramic heritage sites.

A network of institutions and associations

The Sesto edition is born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Sesto Fiorentino and numerous local entities: the Museo Archivio Richard Ginori della Manifattura di Doccia, the Art High School, the Florentine Museum of Prehistory, the Pro Loco, and various cultural associations, with the support of the Fondazione CR Firenze. Buongiorno Ceramica! is much more than an event: it is the living story of a community that has made ceramics its history, in the heart of Tuscany.

Buongiorno Ceramica Sesto โ€” edition 2026

The 12th edition of Buongiorno Ceramica! took place on May 23-24, 2026, with the Sesto program extended until May 31. Sesto Fiorentino participated in the national festival promoted by the AiCC alongside about 60 Italian municipalities, enlivening the Archivio della Ceramica Sestese and city spaces with exhibitions, workshops, and live demonstrations.

For the 12th edition of Buongiorno Ceramica!, Sesto Fiorentino opened the doors of the Archivio della Ceramica Sestese with a widespread program that extended well beyond the national weekend of May 23-24, continuing until May 31. The event, promoted by the AiCC and supported by the Municipality of Sesto Fiorentino with the Fondazione CR Firenze, confirmed the city of Doccia's role as a reference point for Tuscan ceramic tradition.
