The annual fair of the Piana di Settimo, blending rural tradition, music, and Tuscan flavors
In the heart of the Piana di Settimo, a district of the municipality of Scandicci in the province of Florence, the Badia a Settimo Fair stands as one of the most cherished events of the Tuscan summer. Its origins reach back to a distant past: founded as a livestock fair at the beginning of the 20th century, the event has celebrated the agricultural and rural vocation of this territory—crossed by the Arno river and watched over by the ancient Abbey of San Salvatore and San Lorenzo a Settimo—for over a hundred years.
The beating heart of the fair is Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Badia a Settimo, which transforms for four days into a vibrant meeting place for residents and visitors alike. The program alternates between live music, entertainment, exhibitions, and popular traditions, with a food stall open throughout the event, serving authentic Tuscan cuisine.
The fair's evenings are marked by concerts and shows designed for audiences of all ages. Highly anticipated events include performances by Italian bands and tribute acts, dance orchestras that keep the square lively until late, painting exhibitions and competitions, and rallies of vintage cars and motorcycles, such as those dedicated to the classic Fiat 500 and Vespa, which draw enthusiasts and curious onlookers alike.
The final day is the Fierone: the highlight of the event, a direct descendant of the ancient market and livestock exhibition day. The closing evening combines music, the traditional tombola (bingo) with generous prizes, and the spectacular fireworks display—the famous "Fuochi di Badia"—which lights up the sky over the Piana and brings the festival to a beautiful close.
Organized by the Pro Loco Piana di Settimo with the dedication of numerous volunteers, the Badia a Settimo Fair is much more than just an event: it is the living story of a community that cherishes its roots. Strolling among the stalls, listening to music, and gathering in the square means rediscovering the authentic, convivial spirit of a Tuscan village, where tradition and popular festivities continue to walk hand in hand.
The 2026 edition takes place from Friday, June 26th to Monday, June 29th in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in Badia a Settimo. The event offers four days of popular festivities with live music, entertainment, and Tuscan culinary specialties.
The opening evening on Friday, June 26th is dedicated to Italian music with a concert by the tribute band BlueSugar, a homage to Zucchero, accompanied by a Fiat 500 and Vespa rally. Throughout the weekend, the painting competition awards ceremony and a performance by the Sunrise Orchestra are scheduled. On Monday, June 29th, the day of the Fierone, the band Generazione Beat will take the stage, followed by the traditional tombola with generous prizes and the "Fuochi di Badia" fireworks display.
