The Liberation Festival in Sesto Fiorentino, featuring major free concerts and street food
In Sesto Fiorentino, a town in the Metropolitan City of Florence, Tuscany, the end of summer has a specific name: Liberi Tutti. It is the festival through which the city celebrates its Liberation from Nazi-fascism, which took place on September 1, 1944, transforming historical memory into a grand popular celebration open to all. For a few days, Piazza Vittorio Veneto becomes the beating heart of the local community, with concerts, meetings, and moments of conviviality dedicated to the values of the Resistance.
The soul of the event is the Liberation Concert and the series of live performances that accompany it. The stage in Piazza Vittorio Veneto hosts prominent artists from the Italian musical landscape, spanning diverse genres: rap and hip-hop, folk, indie, singer-songwriter, ska, and reggae. Over the years, names such as 99 Posse, The Zen Circus, Ex-Otago, Dimartino, Roy Paci, Bandabardรฒ, Dente, and many others have performed, in a festival that combines quality entertainment with civic engagement.
All concerts are free of charge, a choice that makes Liberi Tutti an authentically popular festival accessible to families, young people, and live music fans from across the Florence area.
Next to the stage, the festival offers a rich selection of street food, aperitifs, and a beer garden every evening, with stands opening in the late afternoon. Visitors can arrive in the square well in advance, dine outdoors, and enjoy the convivial atmosphere that precedes the concerts, in the true spirit of a contemporary village festival.
Liberi Tutti dedicates significant space to emerging local artists through a musical contest open to bands, soloists, and groups of any genre residing or active in Tuscany. The live finale is held in Piazza Vittorio Veneto and offers the winner a cash prize and the honor of opening the Liberation Concert, providing local talent with a prestigious showcase.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Sesto Fiorentino in collaboration with We Agency and with the support of Unicoop Firenze. It is a project that inextricably links musical programming to the celebration of a fundamental date for the history of the city and all of Tuscany.
