Patron Saints Peter and Paul Festival - San Piero a Ponti

A patronal festival that has united the village for over fifty years

The Patron Saints Peter and Paul Festival in San Piero a Ponti, a village in the municipality of Campi Bisenzio within the Metropolitan City of Florence, is one of the most cherished events in the Florentine Plain. Dedicated to the saints Peter and Paul, whose feast day falls on June 29, the festival marks the start of summer each year with ten evenings of tradition, cuisine, and social gathering. Mutton, the queen of Campi cuisine

The true star of the festival is the gastronomy, particularly mutton, an iconic dish of the rural tradition of Campi Bisenzio. Here, mutton is served in several ways: as a sauce for pasta dishes, stewed, or cooked on the grill as a main course. Alongside this specialty, there are also tortellini and other barbecue specialties, prepared every evening by the club's volunteers. It is simple, genuine food that reflects the deep bond between the community and its land.

Ten evenings at the MCL Il Gorinello club

The food stand is set up outdoors at the MCL Il Gorinello club, at Via del Santo 3, and is open every evening from 8:00 PM. The festival typically attracts over 400 people per night, coming not only from the village but from across the entire Plain and the Florentine territory. Given the high attendance, booking dinner is recommended and can be done by calling the club.

Music, shows, and space for children

Beyond the food, the evenings are enlivened by various music and shows, while inflatables and games are set up for the little ones. The festival thus maintains its character as a family-friendly event, capable of uniting the village in an atmosphere of joy and participation.

The Patron Saints Festival is entirely organized and managed by the volunteers of the MCL Il Gorinello club, with the village youth helping with table service. More than just a local food festival, it represents an opportunity for community building and "homemade" volunteering, where the proceeds support the club's activities and the social life of the San Piero a Ponti community.
