The Ferragosto festival dedicated to bruschetta in the scenic village of the Monti Dauni
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Bruschetta Festival is the gastronomic event that brings Sant'Agata di Puglia, a village in the Subappennino Dauno in the province of Foggia, to life on Ferragosto. Perched at an altitude of nearly a thousand meters and nicknamed "the Lookout" and "the Loggia of Puglia," the town offers a panorama from its main square that stretches to the borders of Campania and Basilicata: an exceptional setting for a festival that combines flavors, tradition, and conviviality.
The signature dish of the festival is the bruschetta, simple and generous: toasted homemade bread, rubbed with garlic and drizzled with local extra virgin olive oil, one of the finest products of the Monti Dauni. The classic version with fresh tomatoes, oregano, and basil is joined by numerous variations offered during the festival:
Accompanying the tastings are regional wines and craft beers, creating a culinary journey that highlights the raw ingredients of the Daunia region.
The Bruschetta Festival is more than just food: it is an opportunity to experience the authentic soul of Sant'Agata di Puglia. Throughout the alleys of the historic center, you will find live folk music, stalls featuring local products and crafts, while the charm of the Imperial Castle and medieval vistas provides a stunning backdrop for the evening. The town, awarded the Orange Flag by the Italian Touring Club for its tourism and environmental quality, is perfect for pleasant walks and exploring the historic center before and after the tastings.
The festival is part of the festive atmosphere of Ferragosto in Sant'Agata, a time when the Monti Dauni village welcomes visitors and residents returning home for the summer holidays. For those looking for a different side of Puglia—away from the crowded beaches and immersed in the greenery of the Subappennino—the Bruschetta Festival is the ideal occasion to discover a territory rich in history, genuine flavors, and hospitality.
