Boves Carnival: A festival for families

The Boves Carnival, known locally as the Carlevè, is one of the most beloved winter events in the town of Boves, located in the province of Cuneo in the heart of southern Piedmont. Every year, on Shrove Tuesday, the central Piazza Italia comes alive with color, music, and costumes to welcome children, teenagers, and families for an afternoon entirely dedicated to fun.

What makes the Boves Carnival special is its accessible spirit: all attractions are completely free, designed to offer families a day of celebration at no cost. The event, organized with the support of the Municipality of Boves, focuses on the community and intergenerational connection typical of Piedmontese folk traditions.

Entertainment and shows

The program evolves each year but always retains its most successful ingredients. You will typically find in the square:

• Face painting stations to transform little ones into fantastic characters;
• Stilt walkers in colorful costumes roaming the square;
• Juggling and balancing acts, such as those performed by the Duo Kida;
• Group dances and baby dance sessions with smoke machines and confetti cannons;
• Vintage Games, featuring over twenty wooden games to stimulate creativity and intergenerational fun.

Carnival flavors

The gastronomic side is not forgotten: the food trucks in the square offer typical carnival sweets, from fritters to crêpes, as well as hot sandwiches to warm up the afternoon. It is a perfect opportunity to enjoy traditional flavors while strolling among the stalls.
