Vesuvius in a glass and on a plate, in the heart of Borgo Casamale
Borgo Divino was born in July 2026 in Somma Vesuviana, a town in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania, with a clear vision: to showcase the Vesuvius region through its wine, food, and local history. The inaugural evening, held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Casa del Popolo in Borgo Casamale, sold out days in advance, proving just how much the local community was anticipating such an event.
This is neither a traditional village fair nor a simple tasting session: it is a curated experience built in collaboration with farms, wineries, and chefs, where every bite is accompanied by the story of its producer. The organizers describe it as an innovative food and wine festival, tailored for both connoisseurs and industry experts.
The choice of location is no coincidence. Casamale is the oldest district of Somma Vesuviana, resting on the slopes of Mount Somma and enclosed by Aragonese walls, reinforced in 1467 by order of King Ferdinand of Aragon. Narrow alleys, volcanic stone arches, wrought-iron balconies, and noble palaces define a medieval layout that remains largely intact, centered around the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria della Neve.
This is the same village that lights up every four years for the famous Festa delle Lucerne. Bringing a food and wine event here serves a clear goal set by the creators: to bring light and life back into the historic center, returning these spaces to residents and visitors through events capable of attracting audiences from outside the city.
The first edition brought together seven producers from the region and Campania, alongside two chefs tasked with interpreting the raw ingredients:
In the kitchen, lady chef Rossella D'Avino from Seafood Sixtynine in Vomero and chef Nunzio Di Lorenzo crafted the evening's menu, focusing on the bounty of the sea and the Vesuvius hinterland.
The common thread is the agricultural excellence of the volcanic soil, among the most fertile in Italy. At the heart of the dishes and glasses are:
Borgo Divino is not intended to be a one-off event. The initiative, conceived and organized by Antonio Felaco, Antonio Maiello, Antonio Nicchia, and Nicola D'Avino, aims to create a stable communication network between local producers and regional and national markets, turning the village into a permanent showcase. The stated ambition is to transform the event into a recurring tradition that blends culture, local identity, and the promotion of Campanian excellence, with new dates to be announced following the inaugural evening.
Visitors arriving in Somma Vesuviana for Borgo Divino will find a simple, well-calibrated formula: a single ticket, a guided tasting journey, and the chance to speak directly with winemakers and farmers. All around, a historic village that can be explored on foot in minutes, offering charming views of arches, courtyards, and ancient walls on summer evenings. It is a perfect opportunity to discover a less-traveled side of Vesuvius, just a few kilometers from Naples.
The inaugural evening on July 18, 2026, transformed the Casa del Popolo, in the heart of Borgo Casamale in Somma Vesuviana, into a meeting point for producers, chefs, enthusiasts, and locals. The format, based on a single ticket and a guided tasting path, sold out in the days leading up to the event.
The stars of the show were the iconic products of the Vesuvius lands - the Piennolo del Vesuvio tomato, the Pellecchiella apricot, and salt cod - paired with wines from local and Campanian wineries. The organizers presented the event as the first step of a project destined to continue, with the goal of building a stable network among local producers and bringing life back into the historic center.
