The Epiphany Pageant
The Procession of the Magi is the re-enactment that, on Epiphany day, concludes the Christmas calendar of Montenero di Bisaccia, in the province of Campobasso. The procession of the Magi crosses the town center to reach the Living Nativity scene set up in the evocative sandstone caves.
Tradition and Faith
The procession is part of the 'Buon Natale Insieme' program promoted by the Municipality and represents one of the most heartfelt moments of the Montenero festivities: the re-enactment of the Magi's journey towards the nativity, in a unique natural setting like that of the caves carved into the rock on which part of the town stands.
The Epilogue of Montenero's Christmas
With the Procession of the Magi, the long festive period that has animated Montenero di Bisaccia since early December concludes, with its Christmas lights, market, living nativity scene, and concerts, in the heart of Basso Molise.
Procession of the Magi — edition 2026
The next event for the Procession of the Magi is scheduled for January 6, 2027, in Montenero di Bisaccia. As per tradition, the procession of the Magi will cross the town to reach the Living Nativity scene in the sandstone caves, closing the 'Buon Natale Insieme' calendar of the Municipality. (The Epiphany 2026 edition took place on January 6, 2026.)

The usual format includes, on January 6th, the procession of the Magi starting from the town center (Piazza della Libertà) and arriving at the Living Nativity scene in the sandstone caves. The precise time will be announced by the Municipality in the 'Buon Natale Insieme' calendar (in past editions, in the afternoon, around 3:00 PM).

How to get there
Montenero di Bisaccia (CB) is reachable from the A14 motorway (Montenero di Bisaccia-Vasto Sud exit) and the SS16. The pageant starts from the center (Piazza della Libertà) towards the sandstone caves.
