Wine, music, and tastings in the heart of Bologna
Every spring, the Bologna Wine Week brings quality wine to the heart of the Emilia-Romagna capital. For four days, the halls and courtyard of Palazzo Isolani, a historic residence overlooking Piazza Santo Stefano, are transformed into a large, spread-out salon dedicated to tastings, enological culture, and live music. The initiative involves about fifty wineries from all over Italy, from Piedmont to Tuscany, from Veneto to Friuli-Venezia Giulia, to Abruzzo, Campania, Calabria, and Sicily, along with major national consortia.
Conceived in 2023 by entrepreneur Gian Marco Gabarello, Bologna Wine Week was born with a clear mission: to make wine younger, more popular, and accessible, breaking down the entry barrier that often makes the wine world seem like an exclusive club. The result is an informal and inclusive event where novices and enthusiasts can freely move among the tasting booths, interact with producers, and discover labels and territories in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
The program alternates winery tasting booths with moments of in-depth learning and entertainment. Inside Palazzo Isolani, eight masterclasses led by experts and producers are held, dedicated to exploring grape varieties, territories, and winemaking techniques. The palace courtyard becomes an open-air stage hosting eight live concerts and six DJ sets, confirming the link between wine and good music that is the event's hallmark.
The event has a well-defined structure. Friday's opening evening kicks off the festivities with a DJ set; Saturday and Sunday are the days dedicated to the public, with tastings and events spread throughout the palace's halls and outdoor spaces. Monday shifts gears and is reserved for industry professionals: horeca, buyers, distributors, and press. Throughout the week, the event also extends beyond Palazzo Isolani, involving venues and restaurants in the historic center with guided tastings and meetings with producers and consortia.
From its first edition in 2023 in Piazza Minghetti, through Palazzo Re Enzo in 2024, Bologna Wine Week has grown year by year, culminating in the evocative setting of Palazzo Isolani, attracting thousands of visitors. Promoted with the patronage of the Municipality of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region, the event has established itself as one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the Bolognese spring, successfully combining quality, education, and conviviality in the heart of one of Italy's most beloved cities for its gastronomic tradition.
The fourth edition of the Bologna Wine Week was held from May 15 to 18, 2026, at Palazzo Isolani, overlooking Piazza Santo Stefano. The opening evening on Friday, May 15, kicked off the event with a DJ set; Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, were dedicated to the public, with tastings from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and events spread throughout the palace's halls and outdoor spaces.
Around fifty wineries from all over Italy were featured, alongside major national consortia. The program included eight masterclasses for in-depth learning within the palace, and in the courtyard transformed into an open-air stage, eight live concerts and six DJ sets. Monday, May 18, the final day, was reserved for industry professionals: horeca, buyers, distributors, and press.
