The Carnival of Boffalora sopra Ticino, with masks, a band, and a parade along the Naviglio
The Boffa Carnival is the Carnival event of Boffalora sopra Ticino, a small municipality in the Metropolitan City of Milan overlooking the Naviglio Grande, in the heart of the Lombard Park of the Ticino Valley. Every year, on a February afternoon, the streets of the center fill with masks, confetti, and music: the parade starts from the oratory and crosses the village accompanied by the Boffalorese Musical Corps, in a festive atmosphere designed especially for children and families.
More than just a parade, the Boffa Carnival is a collective moment that brings together the Parish of Santa Maria della Neve, the Municipality, the musical corps, and local associations. Along the route, there are games, entertainment, and the traditional competition for the most beautiful mask, with prizes for the most imaginative costumes. To conclude the day, a snack for all participants.
The 2026 edition is titled NoFrost โ Winter sports with or without snow: an ironic tribute to the Olympic atmosphere of Milan-Cortina, with skis, sleds, and winter disciplines reinterpreted in a playful way. Colorful skis, imaginative helmets, and paper snowflakes transform the town center into a small papier-mรขchรฉ ski resort. As the organizers explain, NoFrost is "an invitation not to let the cold โ or the lack of snow โ stop you, but to experience Carnival with enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and a desire to be together".
Boffalora is one of the most characteristic villages along the Naviglio Grande, with its historic bridge and the church of Santa Maria della Neve. The Carnival is one of the occasions when the town comes together, awaiting the great summer patronal feast.
