A month of traditional festivities across the villages of Valsermenza, in Valsesia
The Boccioleto Summer is a festival that animates the small town of Boccioleto throughout August. Nestled in the Valsermenza valley—a side valley of Valsesia carved by the Sermenza and Cavaione streams—in the province of Vercelli, in the heart of Piedmont. For four weeks, the village squares and its numerous hamlets—Moline, Fervento, Genestreto, Casetti, Oro, Solivo, and others—transform into stages for feasts, patronal masses, competitions, and social gatherings that celebrate the identity of this historic alpine community.
The flagship event of the festival, the Moline Festival, takes place on August 13th in the hamlet of Moline. It is one of those quintessential village celebrations that keeps the bond alive between residents, returning emigrants, and summer visitors, gathering people of all ages among the typical Valsesian architecture with its characteristic loggias and stone-tiled roofs.
The calendar, curated by the Pro Loco of Boccioleto, offers nearly daily events throughout the month:
Alongside religious celebrations and competitions, the festival showcases traditional Valsesian flavors: the miacciata in the square, gastronomic evenings in the hamlets, and social moments are an integral part of the celebration, as are the live music and dancing that conclude many evenings. An authentic opportunity to discover a corner of alpine Piedmont far from the major tourist flows.
Boccioleto can be reached by car by traveling up the Valsesia valley from Romagnano-Ghemme (A26 motorway exit) towards Varallo and then continuing along the Valsermenza road. The nearest train station is Varallo Sesia, from where you can continue via local bus lines or by car.
The festival takes place throughout the month of August; the Moline Festival is scheduled for August 13th.
For the updated program, it is recommended to contact the Pro Loco of Boccioleto via their official Facebook page or the Municipality of Boccioleto. Many events are held in the hamlets: please check the exact locations on-site.
