Craft microbreweries, food, and music in the park of the Ducal Palace of Guastalla
Birrette a Palazzo – Festival of Craft Breweries is the event dedicated to quality beer that brings craft microbreweries to the evocative Ducal Palace of Guastalla and its park, in the heart of the Bassa reggiana. The event, with free admission, is promoted by Habitat ETS, an association composed entirely of young people under 35 active in the province of Reggio Emilia, known for designing initiatives that combine social interaction with the enhancement of monumental and historically significant architectural contexts.
The formula of Birrette a Palazzo rests on three pillars that are maintained throughout the festival:
The stated goal of the initiative is to return one of the most significant places of local historical heritage to the citizens, in a dynamic and contemporary way. The Ducal Palace of Guastalla, a 17th-century residence of the Gonzaga family, thus becomes the ideal setting for a festival that focuses on conviviality and intergenerational encounters, from families having lunch in the park to younger people staying out late for the music.
Birrette a Palazzo is part of the vibrant tradition of beer festivals in the province of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna, a region where the culture of craft beer has grown over the years thanks to events dedicated to microbreweries. In Guastalla, a town in the Bassa area overlooking the Po River, the festival adds a new event to the spring calendar, in a context that combines historical heritage, good beer, and music.
Free admission and the setting in the park of a ducal palace make Birrette a Palazzo an occasion suitable for both craft beer enthusiasts and those simply looking for an evening out with friends, between a pint, a dish, and a concert.
The 2026 edition of Birrette a Palazzo brought to the Ducal Palace of Guastalla and its park a rigorous selection of craft microbreweries, an active food area, and a packed music program, all with free admission. The event, promoted by Habitat ETS, enlivened the weekend of May 23rd and 24th with quality pours, gastronomic offerings, and musical evenings designed for an intergenerational audience.
Throughout the event: craft microbrewery stands with quality pours and a gastronomic area with food offerings.
The highlight of the 2026 edition was the tribute concert to Vasco Rossi by the cover band Vasco Dentro on Sunday evening, preceded by the '90s and 2000s dance night on Saturday. The common thread was the selection of craft microbreweries and the food area in the park of the Ducal Palace.
