Craft beer festival in the historic center of Tagliacozzo
BirrArt is the historic event dedicated to craft beer that brings the historic center of Tagliacozzo to life every summer—an elegant village in the Marsica region, in the province of L'Aquila, in the heart of Abruzzo. Founded in 2009 by the CLAN Eventi Cultural Association, the festival has grown with each edition to become one of the most anticipated brewing events in Central Italy, drawing thousands of visitors to Tagliacozzo.
For three days, the squares and alleys of the historic center are filled with pouring stations, independent breweries, and artisanal food producers. The heart of the event is Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, where the brewery stands and food stalls are concentrated. Among the names that have enlivened BirrArt over the years are Fermento Marso, Birrificio 93, Eternal City Brewing, La Monna, Fermento Brew Inn, Rail Road Brewing, Miles, Birre MacCardi, Muttnik, and Anbra, alongside agricultural beers produced with raw materials grown directly by the breweries.
BirrArt is more than just a place to drink: the program includes masterclasses, professional workshops, guided tastings, and meetings with master brewers who share the secrets of artisanal production with the public. The festival has made beer culture and responsible drinking its hallmark, featuring over thirty labels for tasting, ranging from Italian to international productions.
Alongside the beers, BirrArt offers live concerts, DJ sets, street performers, a high-quality craft market, and numerous street food stands featuring local specialties. Since 2025, the event has also hosted the "Città di Tagliacozzo" National Mixology Beer Competition, which challenges Italy's best bartenders to create cocktails using craft beer.
With free entry and an atmosphere designed for families, BirrArt combines food and wine discovery with the promotion of the historical heritage of Tagliacozzo, one of the most beautiful villages in Abruzzo. It is an ideal stop for those visiting the Marsica region in summer, offering a blend of tradition, great beer, and entertainment in the Municipality of Tagliacozzo.
From July 17th to 19th, 2026, the historic center of Tagliacozzo (AQ) hosts a new edition of BirrArt, the craft beer festival organized by CLAN Eventi. Three days of tastings with independent breweries, masterclasses, professional workshops, and meetings with master brewers, accompanied by food stalls, street food, a craft market, live concerts, and street performers.
On Sunday, July 19th at 6:00 PM, the "Città di Tagliacozzo" Mixology Beer Competition returns, a national contest dedicated to mixing with craft beer. The theme for the 2026 edition is "Beer is more than filler": professional bartenders are called upon to use beer as the starring element of the cocktail. Entry to the event is free.
Tagliacozzo (AQ) can be reached by car via the A24/A25 motorway (Tagliacozzo exit). By train, the Tagliacozzo station is served by the Rome-Pescara line. The nearest airports are Rome Ciampino and Rome Fiumicino.
Free entry. Brewery stands and food stalls are concentrated in the historic center, particularly in Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, with evening openings. Some masterclasses and guided tastings may require reservations.
