Bimbi in Festa is the summer event that the Municipality of Tagliacozzo, in the Province of L'Aquila, reserves for children and families. Established in 2023, the event has quickly become one of the most anticipated moments of the city's summer calendar, transforming the squares and spaces of this Marsican village into a large, sprawling playground filled with shows, workshops, and plenty of outdoor fun.
The festival takes place over three days packed with recreational and educational activities, designed to create opportunities for connection between children and their families. The broad and varied program typically includes:
Alongside activities for children, some editions have enriched the schedule with proposals aimed at the adults who support their growth: meetings, book presentations, and educational workshops led by experts in child-adult relationships. It is a way to make Bimbi in Festa not just a leisure break, but also an opportunity for reflection and community building.
Set in Tagliacozzo, one of the most evocative villages in inland Abruzzo, the event offers families the chance to combine children's fun with the discovery of the historic center, featuring the famous Piazza dell'Obelisco, Renaissance palaces, and the intimate atmosphere of a mountain town in the Marsica region. Organized by the municipal administration, Bimbi in Festa is part of a broader program of summer initiatives that enliven the town and its hamlets during the warmer months.
Free and held outdoors, Bimbi in Festa is designed for an intergenerational audience: children, parents, and grandparents can share days of play and joy together in a safe and welcoming setting in the heart of Abruzzo.
The 2026 edition of Bimbi in Festa in Tagliacozzo has not yet been officially announced. Based on previous editions, the event is expected to return during one of the last weekends of July with three days of shows, creative workshops, storytelling, music, and outdoor games for children and families. The exact dates and the full program will be communicated by the municipal administration closer to the event.
Tagliacozzo can be reached by car via the A25 Rome-Pescara motorway (Tagliacozzo exit). By train, the Tagliacozzo station is served by the Rome-Pescara-Sulmona line. The historic center and the squares hosting the event are easily accessible on foot.
Admission to the activities is generally free. For the detailed program and updated schedules, it is recommended to consult the official channels of the Municipality of Tagliacozzo.
