An enchanted village in the heart of Cicolano

Magicamente Natale is the Advent festival of Fiamignano, a small town in the province of Rieti nestled in the mountains of the Cicolano region, in Lazio. The event takes place in the hamlet of Santa Lucia, which for one day in December turns into an authentic Christmas village: the streets of the hamlet and Piazza Gabriele D'Annunzio fill with lights, decorations, wooden stalls, and seasonal scents, bringing to life what locals call the "enchanted village of Cicolano."

Markets and mountain flavors

The heart of the event is the Christmas market, featuring over thirty exhibitors from the province of Rieti and across the Lazio region. Among the stalls, you will find local food specialties, artisanal crafts, creative gifts, and unique items. There is no shortage of treats to warm up a winter day: mulled wine, hot chocolate, roasted chestnuts, and cotton candy accompany your stroll through the stalls.

Shows, music, and magic for children

Alongside the markets, the day is enlivened by roving performances and entertainment throughout the village. Recent editions have featured zampognari (traditional bagpipe players), stilt walkers, and street artist troupes, while as evening falls, the village lights up with spectacular fire shows. The most anticipated moment for the little ones remains the arrival of Santa Claus, to whom children can deliver their letters, along with workshops and educational activities designed for families.

A community celebration

Magicamente Natale began as a grassroots initiative by the Fiamignano community and has grown over the years into a highly anticipated winter event in the Rieti area: the fourth edition was held in December 2025. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Fiamignano together with the Pro Loco of Fiamignano and various local associations, including the Don Agostino Gismondi association and the "Tanto Per" volunteer group. Admission is free, set in a backdrop that combines tradition, gastronomy, and the promotion of the small villages of the Lazio mountains.

Fiamignano and Cicolano

Located at an altitude of about 900 meters along the Salto Valley, Fiamignano is one of the largest municipalities in Lazio by number of hamlets and serves as a gateway to the Cicolano district, between the Lago del Salto Reserve and the peaks marking the border with Abruzzo. Visiting Magicamente Natale is also a perfect opportunity to discover this authentic corner of the province of Rieti, far from the most beaten tourist paths.
