Music, art, and the Mediterranean in the heart of Sicily, between the UNESCO sites of Morgantina and Villa del Casale
The Between Music & Arts Festival is one of the most original cultural offerings in central Sicily: a widespread event that crosses four inland towns, Pietraperzia, Piazza Armerina, and Aidone (Province of Enna) along with Mazzarino (Province of Caltanissetta). The festival was born from the idea of creating a dialogue between great music and contemporary arts with the island's most precious archaeological heritage, in a territory marked by two UNESCO sites: the Morgantina Archaeological Park and the famous Villa Romana del Casale, with its extraordinary mosaics.
The 2026 edition revolves around the theme "Confini-Insieme", a reflection on overcoming cultural, geographical, and social boundaries and on diversity as a shared wealth. The program alternates between major concerts, performances, exhibitions, screenings, and discussion moments, building a journey that invites the public to rediscover the villages and symbolic places of central Sicily through the lens of art.
The programming embraces diverse genres and languages: from singer-songwriter music to Mediterranean jazz, from visual arts to cinema, and even dance and storytelling. In recent editions, the festival has hosted prominent artists such as Danilo Rea, Luciano Biondini, Peppe Servillo, and Javier Girotto, alongside young creatives from across the Mediterranean basin. Dawn concerts at archaeological sites, exhibitions in historic spaces, and short film screenings make up a dense and evocative calendar.
The beating heart of the event is the international campus that brings together young musicians, videomakers, and artists from various European and North African countries. Among the most anticipated initiatives are the Songwriting Camp, the short film contest created in just a few hours of work in the area, and the audiovisual production workshops, organized in collaboration with the Saint Louis College of Music and with the participation of major cinema and cultural entities.
The Municipality of Pietraperzia, a village in the Province of Enna in Sicily, is one of the four centers hosting the festival's appointments, helping to make this event a truly widespread experience. The festival represents a precious opportunity to enhance the historical, landscape, and identity heritage of the center of the island, offering visitors the chance to discover places often far from the major tourist circuits. Admission to the events is largely free, confirming the inclusive and participatory vocation of the project.
The 2026 edition of the Between Music & Arts Festival, scheduled from July 1st to 5th, explores the theme "Confini-Insieme", dedicated to overcoming cultural, geographical, and social boundaries. The festival opens at the Villa Romana del Casale with the concert "La Grande Musica Italiana Oltre i Confini" (Great Italian Music Beyond Borders), featuring pianist Danilo Rea and accordionist Luciano Biondini.
Among the most anticipated events are the art project "The Human Bridge" and the concert "Parientes" at the Archaeological Museum of Aidone, with Javier Girotto, Natalio Mangalavite, and Peppe Servillo. There will also be talks dedicated to contemporary culture, Cinema Campus screenings featuring short films made by young videomakers, and dawn concerts at archaeological sites. The event also involves the Municipality of Pietraperzia as part of its widespread route. Admission to the events is predominantly free.
Pietraperzia can be reached by car from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (Enna exit), continuing along the SS117bis. The reference cities for trains and flights are Enna, Catania, and Caltanissetta. The festival events also take place in the nearby towns of Piazza Armerina, Aidone, and Mazzarino, and at the archaeological sites of Morgantina and the Villa Romana del Casale.
Most events are free to attend. For some special concerts, a ticket may be required via official ticketing platforms.
