Beerun, the most cheerful marathon in Garbagna Novarese

Some run to beat their personal record, while others run simply for the joy of being together: in Garbagna Novarese, a small town in the Bassa Novarese area in the province of Novara (Piedmont), the Pro Loco chose the latter, giving life to Beerun - Run with your beer, a fun-filled race where the beer mug matters more than the stopwatch. The first edition took place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, and transformed the municipal Sports Center festival area into a large village fair dedicated to lighthearted sport and conviviality.

A race that doesn't take itself too seriously

The idea is simple and contagious: participate in a non-competitive race with your own beer in tow, leaving competition aside and embracing the playful spirit typical of Piedmontese village festivals. You don't need record-breaking times or athletic preparation: all you need is a desire to have fun and a touch of self-irony. It is a formula that has conquered many Italian towns in recent years and has now found a home in the Novara area, thanks to the commitment of the volunteers of the Pro Loco of Garbagna.

A full day of celebration

Beerun doesn't end with the race: the event is designed as a full day to be spent in good company. After the runners set off, the festival area comes alive with a convivial lunch and, in the afternoon, games and entertainment for all ages. For the little ones, the Pompieropoli area is also set up, where children can try their hand at being firefighters through themed games and demonstrations on prevention and safety.

Where and when

The event's headquarters is the Mario Costadone Sports Center festival area, on Via Colombo in Garbagna Novarese. Admission is free and the day is open to everyone. As this is an outdoor event, it will be cancelled in case of bad weather. An appointment that perfectly captures the spirit of the festivals in the province of Novara: simple, warm, and capable of bringing together athletes, families, and curious visitors alike.
