The great European beach volleyball event on the beaches of Riccione
For over twenty-five years, the Beachline Festival has transformed the coastline of Riccione, in the province of Rimini, into an immense sand sports citadel. Born in 1997 from the intuition of Promhotels and the German tour operator Alpetour, the event has become the opening appointment of the competitive season for thousands of beach volleyball enthusiasts from Northern Europe, who choose the Romagna Riviera for their first outdoor tournaments of the spring.
The Beachline Festival is not just a tournament: it's a global sports village. Each edition attracts over 1,500 athletes, largely from German-speaking countries, who compete for the title on more than 200 professional courts set up directly on the beach, from the port to the Marano area. The pulsating heart of the event is Piazzale Azzarita, where the stands for the central court are erected, welcoming the public to follow the most spectacular technical matches.
Beyond the competition, the Beachline Festival is a high-level training experience: international coaches, stars of the discipline, and leading trainers lead technical sessions and workshops on the sand. All this blends with the typical convivial lifestyle of Romagna, made up of evening parties in various parts of the city, excursions into the hinterland, and food and wine tastings. The event, capable of generating over 9,000 hotel presences, is a unique tourist driver for the spring period.
Organized by a cooperative from Riccione in collaboration with Funtec and Alpetour, with the support of the Municipality of Riccione, the Beachline Festival represents a model of excellence in the European landscape. Its historical link with the Northern European, and particularly German, audience makes it a sporting and tourist bridge between Emilia-Romagna and the center of the continent.
For its 27th edition, held from April 6 to 12, 2026, the Beachline Festival confirmed its status as the opening event of the Northern European beach volleyball season. The Riccione coastline, from the port to the Marano area, hosted over 200 courts and more than 1,500 athletes, with Piazzale Azzarita as the focal point of the event and the village. Alongside the tournaments, the program included training sessions with international coaches, technical workshops, evening parties in various parts of the city, and excursions with food and wine tastings in the Romagna hinterland.
The event opened on the afternoon of April 6 with the first matches on the central court of Piazzale Azzarita and continued until April 12, featuring:
