The review of baroque music in the sacred places of Muggia Vecchia
The Baroque Festival is the review that every end of June transforms Muggia into a stage for ancient music. Organized by the Serenade Ensemble Musical Association with the contribution of the Municipality of Muggia, the event offers concerts, masterclasses, conferences, and costume performances, enhancing the baroque repertoire in the most evocative locations of the town.
The heart of the review are the sacred places of Muggia Vecchia and the historic center: the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta of Muggia Vecchia, the Cathedral of Muggia, the Church of San Francesco, and the Church of the Crucifix. Spaces with a strong spiritual charge and precious acoustics, which host evening concerts and provide the setting for masterclasses — such as the recorder one — and student recitals, often in collaboration with the Giuseppe Tartini Conservatory of Trieste.
The Baroque Festival is not just about concerts: it includes conferences on historical instruments and spectacular moments like "La Piazza e la Chiesa" (The Square and the Church), with historical costume reenactors and folk groups, recreating the atmosphere of yesteryear in Piazza Marconi. A program that combines education, training, and celebration, restoring a refined cultural image to Muggia. All performances are free admission, in the Municipality of Muggia (Province of Trieste), a Venetian pearl overlooking the Adriatic.
The Baroque Festival 2026 renews its appointment with ancient music in Muggia at the end of June. Organized by the Serenade Ensemble Musical Association with the contribution of the Municipality, the review offers evening concerts, masterclasses, conferences, and the costume performance "La Piazza e la Chiesa" (The Square and the Church), in the sacred places of Muggia Vecchia and the historic center.
