Santa's House, workshops, market, and music between Piedimonte and the town center
In the heart of winter, the Municipality of Barano d'Ischia, in the Province of Naples and the Campania region, transforms its squares into a small festive village. The Christmas Events Calendar is a recurring municipal program that weaves together tradition, entertainment, creative workshops, and moments of community for both adults and children, enlivening the town and its hamlets from the Immaculate Conception through to Epiphany.
The beating heart of the festivities is Santa's House, set up in Piazza Luigi Scotti, in the hamlet of Piedimonte. Open to the public every afternoon until Epiphany, it welcomes children with creative workshops, meetings with Santa Claus and his elves, photo opportunities, and Christmas entertainment. It is the place where the magic of Christmas comes to life and where local families gather to share in the anticipation.
The calendar opens with the "Flowers on the Christmas Table" exhibition, curated by the Garden Club Isola d'Ischia, which brings a tribute to the art of festive floral decoration to the Council Chamber. The following days feature events dedicated to children, including readings, art workshops, and entertainment, often linked to local charity projects.
One of the most cherished moments is the Christmas Eve gathering in Piazza San Rocco, in the center of Barano, featuring live music and tastings of traditional Christmas products: a way to come together as a community before the most awaited night of the year, amidst festive notes and the flavors of island tradition.
Far from the summer tourism that makes Ischia famous, the Christmas season in Barano reveals the most authentic and familiar side of the island. The events, promoted by the Municipality of Barano d'Ischia, are designed primarily for residents and families, but offer those visiting the island in winter the chance to discover a lively, warm community deeply connected to its traditions.
For the 2025-2026 holiday season, the Municipality of Barano d'Ischia presented a rich calendar of events between Piedimonte and the town center, with Santa's House as the focal point of the celebrations and a series of appointments dedicated especially to children and families, culminating in the musical Christmas Eve in Piazza San Rocco.
Events take place between the hamlet of Piedimonte (Piazza Luigi Scotti, home to Santa's House), the center of Barano (Piazza San Rocco), and the Municipal Council Chamber.
Ischia can be reached by ferry or hydrofoil from the ports of Naples (Molo Beverello, Calata Porta di Massa) and Pozzuoli. From Ischia Porto, Barano d'Ischia is connected by EAV bus lines that head towards the interior of the island.
The Christmas calendar runs from early December until January 6th, with Santa's House open in the afternoons.
