The Easter highlight of the Bagheria City Concert Season
The Easter Concert is one of the most cherished events in the cultural calendar of Bagheria, in the province of Palermo. Now in its twenty-first edition, the event is part of the prestigious Bagheria City Concert Season, a series that has surpassed ninety performances and has been bringing great sacred and operatic music to the city's churches and iconic landmarks for over two decades.
The beating heart of the event is the Laudate Dominum Lyric Choir of Bagheria, accompanied by the Bequadro Orchestra and conducted by Maestro Salvatore Di Blasi, the musical and organizational soul of the series. The concert is traditionally held in the evocative Santo Sepolcro Parish, whose nave offers ideal acoustics and atmosphere for the sacred repertoire performed.
The program weaves together masterpieces of the international sacred repertoire and pages of the Italian operatic tradition, chosen to celebrate the Easter season. Alongside the most famous pieces of choral and orchestral literature, there is also room for compositions and arrangements by Maestro Di Blasi himself, in a dialogue between great tradition and contemporary creativity. The presence of vocal soloists—sopranos and mezzo-sopranos—enriches each edition with moments of intense lyricism.
Organized by the Bequadro Cultural Association in collaboration with Chorus Inside Sicilia and FederCori, the concert is sponsored by the Municipality of Bagheria and the Metropolitan City of Palermo. More than just a musical appointment, it represents a moment of sharing for the entire Bagheria community and for sacred music enthusiasts from all over Sicily, who fill the church every year to experience the emotion of Easter through music together.
