Contemporary circus and performing arts for the next generation in the village of Toffia, Sabina
Attraversamenti Multipli is one of the longest-running multidisciplinary festivals in the Lazio region. Conceived and curated by the Margine Operativo group, under the artistic direction of Alessandra Ferraro and Pako Graziani, it reached its 26th edition in 2026. Each year, the festival traverses urban and natural landscapes with dance, theater, music, live video, and site-specific creations. The Roman leg takes place at Parco di Torre del Fiscale, the green lung of the Appia Antica Archaeological Park, while the extra-urban Lazio leg is hosted by the medieval village of Toffia, in the province of Rieti.
Toffia is a permanent fixture of the festival and specifically hosts the Kids section: two days of performances dedicated to the next generation of spectators, with a special focus on contemporary circus, movement, and physicality. The shows—designed «for an audience aged 0 to 99»—take place in the urban spaces of the historic center, between squares and alleys, turning the village into an open-air stage where children, families, and adults share the same experience.
The common thread of recent editions is coexistence. For Margine Operativo, this means taking responsibility for continuing to create cultural actions capable of generating spaces and times for encounter. This leads to precise choices: low-impact performances, «soft» formats in how they relate to the public and the landscape, schedules that follow the cycle of natural light—from the sun to sunset and into the night—and a horizontal relationship with local communities, who are not mere locations but active interlocutors in the artistic project.
The Municipality of Toffia is located in Sabina, in the province of Rieti, Lazio. It is a medieval village perched in the Farfa Valley, about 50 kilometers from Rome along the Via Salaria and just 5 kilometers from the famous Farfa Abbey. The village is part of the Ecomuseo dei Borghi del Farfa circuit, at the foot of the Sabini Mountains, and is surrounded by nature trails and olive groves. Bringing contemporary circus and performing arts to this setting means enhancing the village's historical heritage and offering the public a cultural experience rooted in the Sabina territory.
In 2025, for the festival's 25th anniversary, the Toffia leg was held on October 4th and 5th with contemporary circus shows «Happy Hoop» by Silvia Martini and «Boato» by Andrea Mineo / Collettivo Clown. In 2026, the event was moved to the summer, on July 3rd and 4th, featuring «A ruota libera» by Roberto Sblattero / Circo Madera and the preview of «The final match point» by Madame Rebinè. A recurring event that, edition after edition, has solidified the bond between the festival and the Toffia community.
After the long Roman leg at Parco di Torre del Fiscale (June 11-20), the Attraversamenti Multipli festival—conceived and curated by Margine Operativo with artistic direction by Alessandra Ferraro and Pako Graziani—moved to Toffia, in the province of Rieti, on July 3 and 4, 2026, with its Kids section. The theme of the edition, coexistence, also permeated the Sabina chapter: «soft» shows in their relationship with the public and the landscape, in dialogue with the urban spaces of the village's historic center.
On Friday, July 3, at 6:30 PM, «A ruota libera» by Roberto Sblattero / Circo Madera was performed, a show that blends comedy theater, circus, and pure street art. On Saturday, July 4, also at 6:30 PM, the festival presented the preview of «The final match point» by Madame Rebinè, featuring contemporary circus, sports, and fun. Both 45-minute shows were aimed at an audience aged 0 to 99: an invitation for children, families, and adults to share the square as a space for celebration and encounter in the heart of Sabina.
The Kids section shows take place in the historic center of Toffia (Rieti), around Piazza Umberto I. The Toffia leg changes dates depending on the edition: in 2026 it was held on July 3-4, and in 2025 on October 4-5.
Toffia is located about 50 km from Rome and can be reached by car along the Via Salaria (SS4) by taking the exit toward the Farfa Valley; the village is 5 km from Farfa Abbey. The most convenient train station is Fara Sabina-Montelibretti (FL1 line), followed by a short drive or taxi ride.
Affordable ticket prices: in the 2025 edition, a single show ticket cost 4 euros (reduced 2 euros). Information and reservations: [email protected], WhatsApp +39 351 9832005, website www.attraversamentimultipli.it.
