The great Ferragosto feast of Rojale, with dancing, food stalls, and fireworks
A few kilometers from Udine, in the green countryside crossed by the Torre stream, the municipality of Reana del Rojale celebrates its most important festival every year: the Assumption Celebrations, known to everyone simply as the Reana Festival. Linked to the Assumption of Mary on August 15th — and, in the nearby hamlet, to the feast of Saint Roch — the event lasts for about ten days and represents the heart of summer for the entire community.
The program is mainly music: every evening the festival area comes alive with dance orchestras and bands, playing various styles including liscio, group dances, and concerts dedicated to great Italian hits — from tribute bands to 70s, 80s, and 90s revivals. Alongside the dancing evenings, the abundant food stalls offer typical Friuli specialties, while rides and shows make the festival suitable for all ages.
Over the years, the Assumption Celebrations have enriched their calendar with events of all kinds: the non-competitive Assumption Run, fashion shows, art exhibitions, flea markets, circus shows, aperitifs, and lotteries. Special attention is paid to sustainability, with editions focused on being plastic-free. The grand finale is traditionally entrusted to the fireworks display that lights up the Rojale sky on Ferragosto night.
Behind the festival is the tireless work of the Pro Loco of Reana del Rojale, part of the Pro Loco Torre Natisone Consortium, and of many volunteers who transform the town into a meeting point for thousands of people every summer. With the patronage of the Municipality, it is an event that combines devotion, tradition, and fun, just a stone's throw from the Friulian capital.
In 2026, Reana del Rojale will once again celebrate its Ferragosto festival. As tradition dictates, the feast will focus on the days preceding and following August 15th, featuring dancing evenings, concerts, food stalls, and activities for all ages, culminating in the final fireworks display on the night of the Assumption.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco of Reana del Rojale on their official channels. Based on recent editions, the festival typically includes:
