The Sicilian cart and the lemon of the Piana take center stage at Villa Aragona-Cutò
ArtiGusto is the festival in Bagheria, near Palermo, that captures the soul of Sicily through culture, fine food, entertainment, and folk traditions. The event aims to showcase the historical, artistic, and agricultural heritage of the Piana di Bagheria, focusing on two defining elements: the Sicilian cart, which has become an artistic and folkloric icon of the island, and the lemon of the Piana di Bagheria, a cornerstone of the local economy for generations.
The event takes place within the grounds of Villa Aragona-Cutò, one of Bagheria's most significant historic residences. Spanning the lower floors and outdoor areas of this 18th-century villa, the festival highlights the famous Baroque villa system that has made Bagheria renowned throughout Sicily, helping the public discover and experience this unique heritage.
The program features exhibitions dedicated to Sicilian carts, talks on the history of the carts and lemon quality certifications, art workshops on cart painting, and recitals narrating island traditions. A strong emphasis is placed on popular culture and the rural memory of the Piana, creating a journey that connects identity, history, and innovation.
The delicious heart of the event is the Food Village, home to traditional Bagheria sfincione, Ape pizza, street food, gourmet creations by Sicilian chefs, gelato, lemon granita, and craft beer. Show cooking sessions and guided tastings explore the thousand culinary transformations of the Bagheria lemon, from refreshing granitas to signature desserts.
ArtiGusto is organized by the La Piana d'Oro Association, the Slow Food Bagheria Convivium, and R&T, in collaboration with APO Sicilia and under the patronage of the Municipality of Bagheria and the regional departments for Productive Activities and Cultural Heritage. The initiative builds a bridge between memory, innovation, and regional development, establishing itself as one of the most vibrant cultural and gastronomic events in Western Sicily.
The 2026 edition of ArtiGusto brought Villa Aragona-Cutò in Bagheria to life on May 29 and 30, attracting around five thousand visitors. Two days dedicated to the Sicilian cart and the lemon of the Piana di Bagheria, featuring exhibitions, talks, art workshops, recitals, tastings, and a rich Food Village. Among the most applauded moments were the signature dessert by pastry chef Salvo Garofalo from Lercara and the numerous lemon-based gastronomic offerings.
The Food Village featured traditional Bagheria sfincioni, Ape pizza, street food, gelato, lemon granita, and craft beer.
Bagheria is located about fifteen kilometers east of Palermo. By car, take the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway and exit at Bagheria. By train, Bagheria station is served by the regional Palermo-Messina line and is just a few minutes from the city center.
The event is held at Villa Aragona-Cutò, in the center of Bagheria, in the province of Palermo.
Admission to ArtiGusto is free. The Food Village is generally open in the evenings; we recommend checking the updated hours on the Municipality of Bagheria website before traveling.
