When the warm season arrives, the Teatro Comunale Garibaldi in Figline e Incisa Valdarno steps out of its 19th-century hall and moves outdoors: the summer arena of Piazza Serristori becomes the stage for the Arena Summer Fest, the festival that accompanies the evenings of the Upper Valdarno from June to September. In the heart of this municipality in the Province of Florence, just a few kilometres from the Tuscan capital, the programme brings a mix designed for diverse audiences to the square: music, theatre, opera, book presentations, open-air cinema, and shows dedicated to children and teenagers.
A multidisciplinary festival
The strength of the Arena Summer Fest is its variety. It ranges from encounters with authors and cultural figures to concerts, from spoken theatre to opera, and even film screenings under the summer sky. Each edition offers about fifteen events that span genres and languages, always with a keen eye on the local area and its traditions. There is no shortage of tributes to great international music, jazz evenings, family theatre, and documentaries linked to the history and identity of the Valdarno.
Culture accessible to all
One of the distinctive features of the event is its accessibility. Many events have free admission, while for paid shows, the ticket price remains intentionally low, with symbolic rates and numerous discounts: reductions for Coop members, members of the BCC Valdarno Fiorentino and Mutua Valdarno Fiorentino, those under 35, and those over 65. A precise choice that makes the Arena Summer Fest a popular event in the noblest sense of the term, capable of bringing families, young people, and culture enthusiasts together in the square.
Piazza Serristori, the city's living room
The monumental heart of Figline, Piazza Serristori, with its Loggiato and Palazzo Pretorio, provides a natural backdrop for the festival's evenings. From 18 June to 1 September 2026, the summer arena of Piazza Serristori in Figline e Incisa Valdarno hosts 17 events ranging from music to theatre, author encounters to opera, and open-air cinema. A programme lasting nearly three months, with numerous free evenings and symbolic ticket prices (5 euros full price, 3 euros reduced).
It begins with culture and literary encounters, then moves into full swing with concerts, opera, and theatre during July, concluding in August and September with the open-air cinema and documentary series linked to the Valdarno area.

Highlights Arena Summer Fest 2026
Among the most anticipated moments of the 2026 edition: the opening night with economist Carlo Cottarelli, the opera The Marriage of Figaro, the docu-concert dedicated to Lennon-McCartney, the concert by Gli Ottoni dell'ORT, and theatre shows with Gaia Nanni and Alessandro Riccio. Closing the festival is the open-air cinema series in Piazza Serristori.

How to get there
By train: Figline Valdarno station on the Florence-Arezzo-Rome line, a few minutes' walk from the square. By car: Incisa-Reggello exit on the A1 motorway, then the provincial road towards Figline. Parking available near the historic centre.
Tickets
Many events have free admission. For paid shows: 5 euros full price, 3 euros reduced. Discounts for Coop members, BCC and Mutua Valdarno Fiorentino members, under 35s, and over 65s. Tickets available online, at Unicoop Firenze points, Box Office Toscana, and the Teatro Garibaldi box office (open on event days).
