The widespread cultural festival in Cisternino, blending art, environment, and community
AppORTo Collettivo is one of the most original cultural experiences of the summer in Cisternino, one of Italy's most beautiful villages nestled in the Itria Valley, in the province of Brindisi and the heart of the Puglia region, famous for its trulli and dry-stone walls. This is not just a simple calendar of events, but a participatory project that unites art, environment, social life, and the rediscovery of forgotten places, returning them to the community.
The festival offers a multidisciplinary journey featuring theatrical performances, open-air cinema screenings, photography exhibitions, conferences and environmental meetings, and tastings of local, zero-mile products. The common thread is the relationship between humanity and nature, a theme dear to the Itria Valley, a land of ancient olive trees and traditional farming.
The heart of the 2026 edition is the reopening of the Giardini del Giannettino, a historic space in Cisternino that returns to life thanks to this project. For the occasion, the venue is set up with hay-bale seating, light displays, and characteristic elements that create a rural and evocative atmosphere, where the public is invited to pause, listen, and share.
The event is promoted by the Meteo Valle d'Itria association, a local organization committed to environmental and cultural outreach, in collaboration with the Municipality of Cisternino and numerous local associations. Previous editions have taken place in various locations across the village and its countryside, from the historic center to the valley viewpoints, confirming the widespread and itinerant nature of the festival.
Participating in AppORTo Collettivo also means discovering Cisternino, a village of white lime-washed houses, famous for its narrow alleys, traditional butcher shops, and panoramic views of the Itria Valley. The festival is part of an increasingly rich cultural summer that the Municipality promotes to enhance the identity and collective memory of the Apulian territory.
For the summer of 2026, AppORTo Collettivo chooses the Giardini del Giannettino in Cisternino, a historic space that comes back to life thanks to the project by the Meteo Valle d'Itria association. From August 2nd to 9th, the festival offers eight days of events including theater, cinema, photography exhibitions, environmental meetings, and tastings of typical products from the Itria Valley.
The venue is decorated with hay-bale seating, light displays, and characteristic elements to welcome the public into a rural and convivial atmosphere, which has become the hallmark of this Apulian event.
