A spring festival dedicated to apples in the village square of Andrian
When spring blossoms in Andrian—a small village of just over a thousand inhabitants in the province of Bolzano, nestled on the right bank of the Adige river opposite Terlan—the apple becomes the absolute star. The Apfelfest / Apple Festival brings the Dorfplatz, the village square, to life during an afternoon that blends flavors, tradition, and conviviality. Everything revolves around the iconic fruit of this land, cultivated among the vineyards and orchards that color the valley floor during the flowering season.
The heart of the event is the tasting: visitors can sample the most beloved apple varieties of South Tyrol, traditional specialties, and more modern, original apple-based creations. There is no shortage of Andrian apple juice, apple sparkling wine, and refined apple aperitifs, while the air fills with the scent of freshly baked pastries. The atmosphere is that of a genuine South Tyrolean village festival, complete with musical accompaniment and plenty of cheer.
The Apple Festival is designed for both adults and children: for the younger ones, a creative corner is set up, dedicated to games and hands-on activities. Admission is free, and the informal setting makes the event perfect for a spring stroll to discover Andrian and its surroundings.
Located along the South Tyrolean Wine Road at the foot of the Mendola mountain range, Andrian enjoys an almost Mediterranean climate that dresses the vineyards and orchards in flowers as early as March. The village boasts the oldest winery cooperative in South Tyrol, founded in 1893, and is an ideal stop for those wanting to discover the agricultural and convivial soul of this corner of Trentino-Alto Adige. The Apple Festival, organized by the Tourismusverein Andrian, is the perfect opportunity to savor the fruits of this land at the most beautiful time of the year.
