About Aosta Classica

Born in 1996 around the summer productions of the Italian Youth Orchestra, Aosta Classica has grown to become a 360-degree festival: classical, jazz, singer-songwriter, folk, blues, and rock music alternate between the city of Aosta and the scenic Piazza d'Armi (Parade Ground) of the Forte di Bard. A summer season of author concerts in one of the most evocative settings in the Alps, with big names from Italian music and a Jazz Workshop dedicated to young musicians.

Thirty Years of Music Between Aosta and Forte di Bard

Aosta Classica is the main music festival in the Aosta Valley. Born in 1996 as a showcase for the summer productions of the Italian Youth Orchestra, over the years it has broadened its scope to become a "360-degree" festival: not only classical music, but also jazz, singer-songwriter, folk music, blues, and rock. The event is organized by the Aosta Classica Cultural Association, based in via Conte Crotti in Aosta.

A Unique Setting: The Piazza d'Armi of Forte di Bard

The heart of the major summer concerts is the Piazza d'Armi of Forte di Bard, the 19th-century fortress that dominates the entrance to the valley: a natural stone amphitheater that serves as a stage for the stars of Italian music. The city of Aosta, on the other hand, hosts the more intimate and educational moments, from the Jazz Workshop to the residencies of the Italian Youth Orchestra.

Big Names and New Generations

Over the years, the festival has hosted leading singer-songwriters, orchestras, and bands, alternating major evening concerts with workshops and productions dedicated to young musicians. The Jazz Workshop in early July, in Aosta, is a space for training and exchange; the residencies of the Italian Youth Orchestra culminate in a symphonic concert at the Forte. A formula that combines performance and artistic growth, rooted in the territory of the Aosta Valley Region.

A Festival That Tells the Story of the Mountains

Aosta Classica intertwines music with the alpine landscape: in addition to concerts, the festival has developed projects that tell the story of the valley and its peaks, bringing musical culture beyond traditional venues. A summer event that has become part of the region's cultural identity.

Aosta Classica — edition 2026

The 31st edition of Aosta Classica runs from July 6 to August 5, 2026, featuring the Jazz Workshop in Aosta (July 6-11), the Italian Youth Orchestra residency (July 30 – August 3), and major concerts at the Piazza d'Armi of Forte di Bard: Cosmo, Daniele Silvestri, Angelo Branduardi, Niccolò Fabi, RAF, and others.

The 31st edition of Aosta Classica confirms the festival's 360-degree format, spread throughout July until early August 2026. It opens with the Jazz Workshop in Aosta from July 6 to 11, continues with major evening concerts at the Piazza d'Armi of Forte di Bard, and culminates with the residency of the Italian Youth Orchestra in Aosta (July 30 – August 3). The stage at the Forte hosts singer-songwriters and stars of Italian music, while the television project "Da Aosta ai 4Mila" brings the story of the festival and the mountains to Rai networks.
