The patronal festival of Ferragosto in Torviscosa
The Perdon dal Tor is the patronal festival of Santa Maria Assunta (Saint Mary of the Assumption), celebrated during Ferragosto (August 15th public holiday) in the village of Tor, in Torviscosa, province of Udine. It is a deeply rooted tradition in the community of the Bassa friulana region, organised by the Parish of Santa Maria Assunta with the patronage of the Municipality of Torviscosa. The name itself, in Friulian, refers to "perdono" (pardon), the ancient devotional festival linked to the Assumption feast day on August 15th, around which a grand village festival has developed over the centuries.
The event intertwines the religious dimension with a convivial atmosphere. The devotional heart is the feast of the Assumption, while the popular aspect unfolds over several evenings: dancing evenings with orchestras, the charity raffle, the photographic exhibition dedicated to the village's history, and the "tombolina del Perdon" (Perdon tombola), an eagerly awaited moment with its substantial prize pool. It is a festival that thrives on participation, where multiple generations gather in the same place, evening after evening.
The food stalls, open every evening, offer the great classics of Friulian cuisine: frico, polenta, tripe, goulash, grilled meats, and sausages, accompanied by local wines and beers. It is an opportunity to savour the peasant tradition of the Bassa in a warm and welcoming festive setting, managed with the care of parish volunteers.
The festival takes place in Torviscosa, reachable from the Palmanova motorway exit (A4) and not far from Cervignano del Friuli and the Grado lagoon. The event is traditionally linked to the Ferragosto period, around August 15th.
For 2026, the Perdon dal Tor renews its Ferragosto appointment in Torviscosa, following the historical pattern of the days around August 15th. The established format includes dancing evenings, the "tombolina del Perdon", charity raffle, photographic exhibition, and Friulian cuisine at the food stalls.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Parish of Santa Maria Assunta. The established structure of the festival includes:
How to get there: Torviscosa (UD) is reachable by car from the Palmanova exit (A4). Cervignano del Friuli and Grado are a few kilometres away.
Admission: free entry to the festival area; paid consumption at the stalls.
