The patronal festival of Terzo d'Aquileia with liscio, tombola, and Friulian flavours
The Sagra di San Pieri is the summer event for Terzo d'Aquileia, a town in the Friulian lowlands in the province of Udine. Founded in the seventies, it celebrated its fiftieth edition in 2025: a milestone that speaks volumes about the bond between this festival and the community. It is the patronal festival dedicated to Saint Peter (San Pieri in Friulian), whose feast day is June 29th, and which has always drawn families, friends, and visitors from nearby towns on the last weekend of June.
The programme follows the classic format of major Friulian sagre, centred around a marquee and a dance floor. Dancing evenings are the heart of the festival, with liscio orchestras taking turns on stage. These are complemented by skating performances, the unmissable tombola (bingo), and a photographic exhibition retracing the history of the town and the festival itself. It's a celebration driven by social interaction, where multiple generations gather under the same marquee.
The food stalls offer local specialties, accompanied by regional wines and beers. It's an opportunity to savour the authentic cuisine of the lowlands in a convivial atmosphere, accessible to all, managed with the care typical of Friulian sagra volunteer work.
The festival takes place in Terzo d'Aquileia, near the church of San Biagio, a short distance from Aquileia, Cervignano del Friuli, and the Grado lagoon. The event is traditionally held on the last weekend of June, coinciding with the patronal feast of Saint Peter.
For 2026, the Sagra di San Pieri renews its appointment with the patronal festival of Terzo d'Aquileia, scheduled for the last weekend of June, near the feast day of San Pietro (June 29th). The formula with liscio evenings, tombola, photographic exhibition, and Friulian cuisine is confirmed.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be published on the organizing committee's channels. The usual structure of the festival includes:
How to get there: Terzo d'Aquileia (UD) can be reached by car from the Palmanova exit (A4 motorway) or from Cervignano del Friuli. Aquileia and Grado are a few kilometres away.
Admission: free access to the festival area; food and drinks payable at the stalls.
