The timed ultramarathon held in the Villa Comunale of Andria
The Andria 8-Hour / 6-Hour Race is one of the most popular timed running events in Puglia. Every spring, the Villa Comunale of Andria (Largo Torneo), located in the town of Andria in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, becomes the stage for a true celebration of ultramarathon running. The course is a flat, FIDAL-certified 1.418 km loop that winds around the park: entirely closed to traffic and surrounded by greenery, it allows athletes to run safely while spectators can follow them closely at every lap.
The event, organized by ASD Maratoneti Andriesi, offers three distinct competitions held simultaneously on the same day:
Timing is managed by the ICRON system, with real-time rankings available.
The Andria 8-Hour / 6-Hour Race is more than just a local run: it is included in the national FIDAL calendar and serves as a stage of the IUTA Grand Prix, the Italian circuit dedicated to ultramarathons. This dual status attracts ultramarathoners from all over the country and abroad every year, helping to place Andria and Puglia at the center of the national endurance running map.
Beyond the sporting aspect, the 6/8-Hour race is above all a moment of community sharing for the city of Andria. Dozens of volunteers from the association provide refreshments, support, and services along the circuit, while families and enthusiasts bring the Villa Comunale to life throughout the day. The event is supported by the Municipality of Andria and the Puglia Region, which has heavily invested in major local sporting events in recent years.
Running for hours along the same circuit, fueled by the warmth of the crowd and the scent of the Puglian spring, is an experience that blends physical exertion with celebration: this is why the Andria 8-Hour / 6-Hour Race has become a staple for ultramarathon lovers.
The 2026 edition of the Andria 8-Hour / 6-Hour Race, the fifth of the event, took place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in the Villa Comunale of Andria. On the flat, traffic-free 1.418 km loop, hundreds of enthusiasts competed in the three race formats, which were valid for the national FIDAL calendar and the 24th IUTA Grand Prix.
In the 8-Hour, Antonio Zaini (Ecologica G) triumphed with 97.693 km, while Angela De Sario (Bramea Vultur Runners) won the women's category with 78.542 km. In the 6-Hour, victory went to Roberto Visocchi (Cus Cassino) with 62.392 km and Addolorata Trisolino (Atl. Curinga) with 58.014 km. In the 30 km, the Czech runner Anton Prokopchuk (Jure Sport) won in 2h08'40", and Vanessa Benedetto (Atletica Pro Canosa) won in 2h33'57".
