A summer festival blending world music, local flavors, and the landscapes of the Alta Murgia
Origami di Murgia is a new summer festival debuting in 2026 in Corato, a town in the Metropolitan City of Bari overlooking the Alta Murgia plateau in Puglia. The name evokes the delicate art of paper folding: just like an origami, each evening takes shape through the encounter of four essential elements โ sound, territory, flavors, and conviviality.
The festival is conceived by Uliveto Grillo in collaboration with Borgo Sansanello, featuring artistic direction by Danny and Francesco Grillo and gastronomic direction by chef Corrado De Ruvo. The goal is to offer a refined, slow-paced alternative to the crowded coastal tourism: here, away from the hustle, the Murgia evenings offer cool temperatures, starry skies, and a limited number of guests for each appointment.
Each event follows a specific ritual, designed to guide the audience on a profound journey that lasts the entire evening:
The 2026 program consists of three events that span continents and traditions: from the African narratives of the kora to the hypnotic sounds of the handpan, and ancient Mediterranean melodies. Each concert is accompanied by a themed menu that engages with the music, creating a perfect harmony between listening and tasting.
Located between Corato and the Alta Murgia National Park, Borgo Sansanello is the ideal setting for a festival that makes the landscape a protagonist. The olive trees, the stone, and the vast horizon of the plateau become part of the experience, in an inland Puglia often overlooked by mass tourism but rich in identity. Origami di Murgia thus positions itself as a small cultural laboratory for the town of Corato, capable of uniting international musical research with the enogastronomic enhancement of the Apulian territory.
The first edition of Origami di Murgia debuts in the summer of 2026 with three events at Borgo Sansanello, in Corato. Under the artistic direction of Danny and Francesco Grillo and with the cuisine of chef Corrado De Ruvo, each evening combines an international concert with a themed menu and the hospitality of the Alta Murgia. The format remains identical for all three dates: sunset aperitif from 8:00 PM, concert at 9:00 PM, "Retroscena" buffet with wines at 10:30 PM, and a vinyl lounge bar to follow. Single ticket price of 50 euros per evening, all-inclusive.
The narratives and ancestral sounds of West Africa with the Jali Babou Saho Trio: the kora and voice of Jali Babou Saho accompanied by Nicola Scagliozzi on double bass and Cesare Pastanella on percussion. Menu inspired by Afro-Mediterranean routes.
A hypnotic journey led by Loris Lombardo, a world pioneer of the handpan, with the project "101 Flames of Inspiration". On stage with him are Alex Grasso (guitar and bass) and Eric Forsmark (percussion). Gastronomic proposal with oriental influences.
The Apulian ensemble La Cantiga de la Serena brings ancient Mediterranean music back to life, weaving Sephardic melodies, tarantella rhythms, Balkan chants, and Arabic maqam. Final dinner with Mediterranean inspiration and Apulian roots, under the stars of San Lorenzo.
