Alternative Aternum: singer-songwriter music in the heart of the Valle Subequana

In the main square of Molina Aterno, a tiny village of just over four hundred inhabitants nestled in the Valle Subequana, in the province of L'Aquila, summer brings an evening dedicated to live music: Alternative Aternum. The event takes place in Piazza San Nicola, one of the most picturesque corners of the village, recognized as one of the FAI "Places of the Heart" and dominated by the 17th-century bell tower of the Church of San Nicola di Bari.

A format blending songwriting and alternative sounds

The festival was created as a showcase for original musical projects, with a lineup that favors singer-songwriters and intimate atmospheres. The performances, often in an unplugged format, range from alternative sounds to folk music, offering the audience an evening of focused yet passionate listening. Local musicians from the Abruzzo region take the stage, aiming to highlight the emerging local scene.

Molina Aterno and its summer

Alternative Aternum is part of the summer calendar of the Municipality of Molina Aterno, which brings the village to life every year with cultural festivals, outdoor cinema in the square, and musical appointments. The village, immersed in the Sirente-Velino Regional Natural Park, offers a natural and historical setting of great charm: medieval alleys, the Piccolomini Castle, and a mountain panorama that makes every evening an authentic experience.

Conviviality and local flavors

True to the tradition of Abruzzo village festivals, the music is accompanied by good food. During the evening, food stalls and refreshment points are active, serving local specialties including the famous porchetta, for an evening of conviviality under the stars.

The event is organized by the Compagnia Artisti Abruzzesi together with the Comitato Feste of Molina Aterno, the same group that manages the village's summer events in the province of L'Aquila, Abruzzo.
