About Alt(r)iAscolti
A high-altitude culture festival
Alt(r)iAscolti is a cultural event held in Chamois (Aosta Province), at an altitude of 1,816 meters, in the most unique municipality in the Italian Alps: the only one without cars, reachable only by cable car or on foot. This condition of isolation and silence becomes the very essence of the festival, an invitation to slow down and practice authentic listening.
Music, thought, and environment
Curated by the association Insieme a Chamois with the artistic direction of musicologist Luciana Galliano, the festival intertwines music, sociological thought, literature, and environmental sustainability. The program explores the relationship between nature, border cultures, and mountain life, alternating concerts and performances with debates and meetings.
A multidisciplinary program
On the Chamois stage, electronic music performances, vocal ensembles, world music orchestras, theatrical shows, and film screenings take place, accompanied by guided nature walks, book presentations, and reflections on themes such as mountains, the environment, and living in high-altitude areas. A mosaic of languages that makes Alt(r)iAscolti a complete cultural experience.
Chamois, a unique setting
The absence of cars and the altitude make Chamois the ideal setting for a festival that invites reconnection with the landscape and oneself. Ascending here, by cable car or on foot, is already part of the experience: a small journey that predisposes one to listening and discovery, in the heart of the Aosta Valley.
Alt(r)iAscolti — edition 2026
The VI edition of Alt(r)iAscolti takes place in Chamois from Friday, August 7 to Sunday, August 9, 2026, with the artistic direction of musicologist Luciana Galliano and the organization of the association Insieme a Chamois (president Fabienne Dejean).

How to get there
Chamois can be reached by cable car from Buisson (a hamlet of Antey-Saint-André) or on foot along the mule tracks. Cars must be left in the Buisson parking lot. Antey-Saint-André is reached by ascending the Valtournenche from the Châtillon-Saint-Vincent (A5) motorway exit.

Festival events are free admission.
Tips
Check the cable car schedule. Wear clothing suitable for the altitude and for hiking; comfortable shoes for nature walks.
