An alpine feast at the Lanzwiesen mountain hut above Valdaora, featuring mountain music and local gastronomy.
The Alpine Festival Lanzwiesen Hütte is the signature summer event at the Lanzwiesen Alm, a mountain refuge and restaurant located at an altitude of 1,823 meters in Valdaora di Sopra (Oberolang), within the municipality of Valdaora/Olang, in the Puster Valley, South Tyrol. The hut opens its doors to hikers, families, and mountain enthusiasts for a day dedicated to great food, live music, and genuine alpine charm.
The festival takes place in the classic setting of a mountain pasture, surrounded by meadows and forests at the foot of the Plan de Corones (Kronplatz). The atmosphere is typical of South Tyrolean mountain hut celebrations: live music, long communal tables, and traditional cuisine from the Lanzwiesen Alm, prepared with regional ingredients. Guests can enjoy South Tyrolean specialties such as canederli (dumplings), apple strudel, and rustic farmhouse dishes, all while admiring the panoramic views of the Olang mountains and the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.
The Lanzwiesen Alm can be reached on foot from Valdaora di Sopra via several trails: forest road no. 7 from Voppichl, trail 6A from the Riedl farmsteads, or trail 6B from Bad Bergfall, all of which are served by the local Citybus. The hike, which is suitable for families, allows visitors to arrive at the festival immersed in nature, crossing the forests and pastures typical of the Puster Valley.
The Alpine Festival Lanzwiesen is designed as an open-air celebration: a mountain excursion that combines hiking, fine dining, and the joy of traditional music. It is one of the key events defining the summer in Valdaora/Olang and the Plan de Corones area, where alpine culture and South Tyrolean hospitality meet in a stunning natural setting.
