About Allumiere Carnival

The Allumiere Carnival is the most vibrant winter festival in the Monti della Tolfa area. In the heart of this Lazio village, elaborate floats built with passion by local associations parade through the streets, accompanied by hundreds of costumed participants, choreography, and music. Organized by the Municipality of Allumiere and the Pro Loco, the event turns the town center into a long, festive procession designed for families, children, and visitors from neighboring towns.

The Allumiere Carnival

Every winter, the village of Allumiere, nestled in the Monti della Tolfa within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, dresses up in the colors of Carnival. The float parade is the most anticipated event of the season: a long procession that winds through the town center with music, dance, and masks, drawing locals, families, and visitors from the surrounding Civitavecchia district to the main square.

The floats and local associations

The true driving force behind the festival is the local associations, which work side-by-side for months to build the floats. Each float tells a different story, from the charm of the past to the magic of cartoons, and is the result of collaboration between youth groups, dance schools, and local musical associations. According to the organizers, this synergy between institutions, the Pro Loco, and volunteers represents the true spirit of the Allumiere Carnival.

A procession through the village streets

The parade kicks off from Piazzale Cesare Moroni and winds along the main streets of the center, before returning to the square where choreography and music continue. The floats are accompanied by hundreds of costumed participants who animate the entire afternoon with dances and infectious rhythms. The atmosphere is that of a typical village festival: engaging, familiar, and deeply felt by the community.

A celebration for the whole community

More than just an event, the Allumiere Carnival is a moment of great unity for the village. Seeing the associations work together to build the floats is, for the organizers, the most authentic sign of the town's identity. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Allumiere and the Pro Loco with the contribution of local associations and merchants, is an opportunity to rediscover popular traditions and community life in this corner of Lazio.
