About AlatriJazz

AlatriJazz is an international jazz festival that transforms the historic center of Alatri, in the province of Frosinone, into the jazz capital of the Ciociaria region every summer. Now in its twenty-fourth year, the festival features three evenings of free concerts in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, an international masterclass in the Cloister of San Francesco, and various music-themed gatherings. It is an event that brings together renowned performers, young talents, and the timeless charm of this Lazio hilltop town.

AlatriJazz: International Jazz in the Heart of Ciociaria

Every summer, AlatriJazz brings the historic center of Alatriโ€”a town in the province of Frosinone, Lazioโ€”to life with three days dedicated to jazz and great music. Launched as an international festival and jazz masterclass, the event has become one of the most anticipated summer musical highlights in the Ciociaria region and beyond, drawing enthusiasts, young musicians, and curious visitors to the winding alleys and squares of this ancient Hernici city.

Free Concerts in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore

The festival's beating heart is Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, where a free concert takes place every evening. From 1960s Italian jazz to the swing of big bands, the stage hosts prominent ensembles and soloists for an audience gathered under the stars. By keeping the concerts free, AlatriJazz remains an accessible event where artistic excellence meets the convivial, popular spirit of a summer festival.

The International Jazz Masterclass

Alongside the concerts, the festival hosts the International Masterclass of Jazz in the evocative Cloister of San Francesco. For three days, morning and afternoon, young musicians from the province of Frosinone, Lazio, and other Italian regions study with nationally acclaimed instructors, refining their instruments and jazz vocabulary. The program concludes with a final student concert and the awarding of certificates, providing a platform for emerging talent.

A Festival Directed by Mauro Bottini

AlatriJazz is conceived and directed by maestro Mauro Bottini and is promoted by the Municipality of Alatri with the support of the Lazio Region, in collaboration with the Charlie Parker Music Academy. The event weaves together music, education, and the promotion of the city's historical heritage, forming part of the "Alatri: Note in Movimento" cultural project.

Alatri: Between Cyclopean Acropolis and Jazz

Attending AlatriJazz is also the perfect excuse to discover Alatri, famous for its monumental Acropolis and its imposing Cyclopean wallsโ€”one of the most remarkable examples of pre-Roman architecture in Italy. Live music, framed by medieval churches, cloisters, and squares, offers an experience where jazz dialogues with centuries of history, embodying the spirit of freedom that has always defined this musical genre.

AlatriJazz โ€” edition 2026

The twenty-fourth edition of AlatriJazz takes place from July 31 to August 2, 2026, in Alatri, in the province of Frosinone. Three evenings of free concerts in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore, an international masterclass in the Cloister of San Francesco, and a conference on music therapy, under the artistic direction of maestro Mauro Bottini, featuring 1960s Italian jazz and big band swing.

The 24th edition of AlatriJazz brings three days of jazz, education, and gatherings to Alatri from July 31 to August 2, 2026. Evening concerts are held in Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore with free admission, while the Cloister of San Francesco hosts the international masterclass and the conference on music therapy.
