About Agricastrum

Agricastrum is Sicily's premier agricultural fair, held every September in Castronovo di Sicilia, nestled in the heart of the Sicani Mountains in the province of Palermo. Founded by a group of young farmers, the event spans over four hectares, bringing together agricultural machinery dealers, artisans, food producers, and industry experts. With field demonstrations, professional conferences, local food tastings, live music, and family entertainment, it has become a cornerstone for agriculture in Southern Italy. Admission is free.

Agricastrum, the agricultural fair of the Sicani Mountains

Agricastrum is the largest agricultural fair in Sicily, taking place every year in early September in Castronovo di Sicilia, a town in the Sicani Mountains in the province of Palermo. The exhibition area, covering over four hectares, is strategically located along the SS189 Palermo-Agrigento road, near the Castronovo junction, making it easily accessible from across central-western Sicily.

A story born from young farmers

The event was launched in 2022 by a group of young local farmers, now united as the Agricastrum Non-Profit Association, with the goal of giving a voice to the future of Southern agriculture. In just a few editions, the fair has grown into a nationally significant event, attracting exhibitors, technicians, and visitors from across the island and beyond.

What to find at the fair

  • State-of-the-art agricultural machinery and equipment, featuring leading dealers and manufacturers;
  • a vast testing field of about twenty hectares to trial vehicles and watch live demonstrations;
  • a gathering of Sicilian agricultural machinery, both vintage and modern;
  • a covered area dedicated to local agri-food products, with tastings of regional specialties;
  • spaces for artisans and agribusiness companies;
  • conferences and technical meetings with universities, professional bodies, and regional entities focusing on innovation, sustainability, and funding.

Innovation and tradition

Alongside the exhibition, Agricastrum dedicates significant space to technical discussion: conferences address topics such as precision farming, the use of drones and sensors, no-till seeding techniques, environmental sustainability, and opportunities offered by Rural Development Program (PSR) grants. Participants include professors from the University of Palermo, the Order of Agronomists, the ESA, and representatives of the Sicilian Regional Government, confirming the fair's role as a laboratory of ideas for multifunctional agriculture.

A festival for the whole family

Agricastrum is not just about work: the event offers live music, entertainment, food stalls, and activities designed for families, creating a festive atmosphere that brings the village of Castronovo di Sicilia to life for three days. Admission is completely free, ensuring the fair remains accessible to curious visitors, enthusiasts, and industry professionals alike.

Agricastrum — edition 2026

The fifth edition of Agricastrum is scheduled for September 4-6, 2026, in Castronovo di Sicilia, along the SS189. Sicily's largest agricultural fair returns with machinery, field demonstrations, technical conferences, local products, and entertainment. The detailed program will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.

Agricastrum 2026

The fifth edition of Agricastrum will be held in Castronovo di Sicilia (Palermo) on September 4, 5, and 6, 2026, confirming the early September appointment at the exhibition area along the SS189. The 2026 edition aims to strengthen the fair's role as a reference point for multifunctional agriculture in Southern Italy, featuring machinery, a testing field, conferences, local food tastings, and festive moments.
