Art, music, theatre, and historical reenactments in the medieval village of Corciano
The Agosto Corcianese, now also known as Corciano Festival, is one of Umbria's longest-running cultural events. Every year, it transforms the medieval village of Corciano, in the province of Perugia and listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, into a large stage spread across alleys, squares, and 14th-century walls.
The programme intertwines multiple disciplines: art exhibitions, literary presentations, theatrical performances, and band music, a highlight of the festival since its origins with the renowned international composition competition for bands. The village hosts exhibitions, meetings, and cultural salons that liven up the summer evenings.
The heart and soul of the event are the medieval and Renaissance historical reenactments, usually concentrated around Ferragosto (mid-August). Corciano travels back centuries with costume parades, minstrel serenades, ancient dances, the evocative Procession of Lights, and the Historical Gonfalon parade. The castle districts compete in popular games: tug-of-war, sack races, log races, and archery.
To complete the atmosphere, the village's taverns offer local products and Umbria's Slow Food excellences, in a gastronomic journey that accompanies visitors through the medieval scenery. The Agosto Corcianese is a journey into the cultural and historical identity of Corciano and the entire region.
The 62nd edition of Agosto Corcianese – Corciano Festival enlivens the village of Corciano from August 8 to 16, 2026. The programme combines band music, with the festival's orchestral workshop led by Maestro Alessandro Celardi, theatre dedicated to the Franciscan centenary, art, and literature. Between August 13 and 15, the village immerses itself in medieval and Renaissance historical reenactments, with parades, minstrels, ancient dances, the Procession of Lights, the Historical Gonfalon parade, and popular games pitting the castle districts against each other (tug-of-war, sack races, log races, archery). The "Salotti Umbria del Cuore" (Umbria of the Heart Salons) and taverns with Umbria's Slow Food products animate the evenings.
