The Agliana New Year's Concert is how the Municipality of Agliana, in the province of Pistoia, chooses to usher in the new year: not with fireworks, but with great classical music. Every January 1st at 6:00 PM, the historic Teatro Il Moderno on Piazza Anna Magnani welcomes citizens and visitors for an evening that is both elegant and accessible, with free admission.

A theatre at the heart of Agliana's cultural life

The Teatro Il Moderno is Agliana's main venue for live performances. Completely rebuilt in 2008, it hosts the town's theatrical and musical season and is managed in collaboration with the Il Moderno Cultural Association. Its intimate hall, featuring both stalls and a gallery, creates the perfect atmosphere for a symphonic and operatic concert like the New Year's celebration.

Orchestra, voices, and repertoire

The program alternates between symphonic works and opera arias, with a repertoire designed to engage both seasoned enthusiasts and those new to classical music. Recent editions have featured the Harmonia Mundi Chamber Orchestra, accompanied by soloists, on a journey through the great 19th-century composers and Viennese operetta.
