The Fieschi Family Festival

The Addio do Fantin is a historical re-enactment that takes place in San Salvatore di Cogorno, a hamlet of the municipality of Cogorno in the Metropolitan City of Genoa. The event, established in 1982, re-enacts the bachelor farewell of Count Opizzo Fieschi on the eve of his wedding, traditionally celebrated in the 13th century. It is closely linked to the powerful Genoese Fieschi family, which gave the Church two popes, and serves as a prelude to the famous Torta dei Fieschi in Lavagna.

The Basilica dei Fieschi

The stage is one of the most evocative places in Liguria: the Basilica dei Fieschi, built from 1244 under papal patronage, a masterpiece of Ligurian Gothic architecture. Its parvis recreates the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, with the village transformed into an ancient market populated by merchants, artisans, falconers, and musicians.

Banquets, Dances, and Sword Fights

The program alternates between 'Middle Ages in the Village' — with the reconstruction of the medieval village — and the grand noble banquet on the parvis, featuring medieval-inspired dishes and spectacular demonstrations of falconry, juggling, and sword fighting. Groups of musicians, flag throwers, and dancers perform choreographies reconstructed from 15th-century dance manuals. The event, an 'Autentico Ligure' event cataloged by the Ministry of Culture, is a journey back in time in the heart of Tigullio.
