About Accadia Blues

Every summer, the Accadia Blues Festival brings world-class blues music to the Rione Fossi, the ancient rock-hewn quarter of Accadia, a picturesque village in the Monti Dauni area of the Foggia province. Established in 2010, the festival blends free concerts on natural rock stages with art exhibitions, craft and vinyl markets, children's workshops, and food and wine trails. It is an intimate and evocative event that has hosted legends like Tullio De Piscopo, Alex Britti, Angelo Branduardi, and Charlie Musselwhite, traditionally concluding in the age-old greenery of Bosco Paduli.

A festival among the rocks of the Monti Dauni

The Accadia Blues Festival is one of the most distinctive musical events in the Daunian Subappennino. It takes place in Accadia, a small town in the province of Foggia, nestled in the heart of the Monti Dauni in Puglia. The festival has chosen the Rione Fossi as its natural stage—an ancient, abandoned rock-hewn quarter that provides a unique backdrop of stone, narrow alleys, and natural terraces overlooking the landscape.

History and identity

Founded in 2010 through a collaboration between the Accadia municipal administration and the Moody Jazz Cafè, the festival has grown into an international blues landmark in Southern Italy. Over the years, the artistic direction has curated a high-quality program, bringing artists to the Daunian village who were often performing in this part of Italy for the first time. The intimate and "fluid" atmosphere allows the audience to enjoy direct contact with the musicians during and after the concerts.

Music and guests

Throughout its editions, Accadia Blues has hosted major names from the blues and singer-songwriter scene, including Charlie Musselwhite, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson, Angelo Branduardi, Tullio De Piscopo, and Alex Britti. Alongside the major evening concerts, the program highlights Mediterranean influences and new talent, with performances spread across multiple stages within the Rione Fossi.

More than just concerts

The festival is designed as an immersive experience within the village. In addition to live music, the program typically features:

  • the Artistico Blues exhibition, set up in the town's historic spaces;
  • a craft and vinyl market winding through the alleys of the center;
  • workshops for children and family-friendly activities;
  • a food and wine trail featuring typical products of the Monti Dauni;
  • the closing event in the lush greenery of Bosco Paduli, among ancient oak trees.

A village to discover

Attending the Accadia Blues is also an opportunity to discover one of the most evocative villages in the Monti Dauni. The Rione Fossi, with its rock architecture, and the nearby Sanctuary of the Madonna del Carmine on Monte Crispignano make Accadia a destination that perfectly combines music, nature, and tradition. The festival is free to attend and attracts blues enthusiasts and curious visitors from all over Puglia and neighboring regions every summer.
