An evening of music and urban culture in the village of Bedizzano, in the hills of Carrara
The 'A Monte' Pro Loco Festival takes place in Bedizzano, one of the hillside hamlets that make up the so-called "mountain villages" of Carrara, in the province of Massa-Carrara, Tuscany. Nestled on the heights overlooking the city of marble, at the foot of the Apuan Alps, Bedizzano preserves the authentic atmosphere of Apuan villages, characterized by narrow alleys, stone houses, and a strong community identity guarded by local Pro Loco associations.
The festival was born from the desire of the Pro Loco associations of the mountain villages to bring life and events to the hillside hamlets during the summer season, combining the tradition of village festivals with more contemporary languages capable of speaking to the local youth.
The 2026 edition focuses on urban culture and hip-hop. The program includes a 'muretti' freestyle battle, curated by the Fortitudo association, which transforms the village spaces into an arena for improvisation challenges between young rappers starting at 6:00 PM. Following this, the evening culminates with a concert by KAOS and EGREEN, two prominent names in the Italian rap scene, for an event that attracts fans from outside the province as well.
The formula thus combines the convivial spirit of a village festival — with the participation of the Pro Loco and the typical hospitality of Apuan villages — with an energetic and modern musical offering, capable of enlivening the summer evenings of Bedizzano.
The 'A Monte' Pro Loco Festival is included in the official summer program 'Quest'estate succede', the major calendar with which the Municipality of Carrara brings together concerts, theatrical performances, open-air cinema, festivals, exhibitions, and displays throughout the area from June to September. The Bedizzano festival represents one of the events that enhance the hillside hamlets, bringing events and social life back to the mountain villages of the city of marble.
Visiting Bedizzano during the festival is also an opportunity to discover a lesser-known side of Carrara: that of the mountain villages, small centers perched on the hills between marble quarries and forests, where community life remains strong and the Pro Loco play a fundamental role in caring for the territory. From the heights of Bedizzano, the view sweeps over the Apuan plain and the sea, in a landscape that blends the hardness of marble with the softness of the Tuscan hills.
