Three days of Alpine festivities in the heart of the Turin Monferrato
In May 2026, the Verrua Savoia Alpini Group, based in a small town overlooking the Po River in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, marked a significant milestone: its 95th anniversary. The occasion was celebrated in conjunction with the 4th Festival of the 12th Zone of the National Alpini Association, bringing together the 'black feathers' from the seven municipalities of the zone and numerous delegations from all over Italy for three days of festivities.
The celebrations took place from Friday, May 29th, to Sunday, May 31st, 2026, featuring a calendar rich in institutional, cultural, and community events.
The event was attended by numerous authorities, including representatives from the Piedmont Regional Council, the Metropolitan City of Turin, mayors of neighboring towns and the seven municipalities of the 12th Zone, as well as the President of the Turin Section. The involvement of schools and young people highlighted the importance of passing on the memory and values of solidarity and civic commitment inherent to the Alpini tradition.
Perched among the hills overlooking the Po River, Verrua Savoia preserves the remains of its famous fortress and a strong identity as a frontier town between the Monferrato hills and the plains. The Alpine festival is one of the most cherished events for the local community, blending tradition, conviviality, and a deep connection to the territory.
For the Group's 95th anniversary, Verrua Savoia hosted three days of Alpine festivities from May 29th to 31st, 2026. Friday featured a flag-raising ceremony with primary school children and a performance by the "Cantabile in Coro" choir; Saturday included the inauguration of the new headquarters and the twinning with the Pessinetto Group, followed by Loris Gallo's show "Alpini che bataje"; Sunday concluded with institutional ceremonies featuring the La Fenice Band of Brusasco and over fifty banners.
