The historic six days of track speed skating and the legendary Lobster Jersey
The 6 Giorni Rotellistica, also known as 6 Giorni International, is one of the historic inline track speed skating events in Italy. It takes place every year in August in Santa Maria Nuova, a village in the Vallesina area in the province of Ancona, in the heart of the Marche Region. Its roots lie in the strong skating tradition of the town between the 1980s and 1990s; after a long break, the event was revived in 2018 and is now an eagerly awaited fixture on the international calendar.
The symbol of the competition is the famous Maglia Aragosta (Lobster Jersey), the prize with the unmistakable colour that athletes compete for on the track each year. The 6 Giorni International is recognised by World Skate Europe and is the only Italian stage of the European Cup Inline Speedskating, attracting skaters from numerous European countries and distant nations like Cuba, Iran, and India to the Municipality of Santa Maria Nuova.
The races are open to all age groups, male and female: Giovanissimi (U13), Esordienti (U15), Ragazzi 12 (U13), Ragazzi (U15), Allievi (U17), Junior, and Senior. Races are held inline on the track, with dozens of competitions spread across the evenings of the event.
Alongside the competition, the 6 Giorni is a popular family festival. The Roller Village offers social gatherings, tourist services, bars, and catering for athletes and their companions, while the programme includes initiatives dedicated to paralympic sport and seminars from the Sports School. The summer evenings at the skating rink, with spectators in the stands and skaters speeding under the spotlights, create a unique atmosphere that combines sport, territory, and Marche hospitality.
Organised by the Gruppo Sportivo Pattinaggio Santa Maria Nuova ASD, the event is listed by the Marche Region among its most significant sporting events and serves as a showcase for Santa Maria Nuova and the entire Vallesina area, with its hills, villages, and hospitality.
The dates for the 2026 edition are confirmed on the official website: the 6 Giorni International will be held in Santa Maria Nuova from August 5th to 9th, 2026, at the Annaelisa Bomprezzi Municipal Skating Rink. Inline track speed skating races for all categories, from Giovanissimi to Senior, return, with the awarding of the Lobster Jersey and the summer atmosphere of evenings under the stars.
