In Jesi, the provincial capital of the middle Vallesina in the province of Ancona, summer has a regular event that combines the pleasure of watching with civil engagement: Tempo Supplementare – La Sfida Civile tra Conflitti e Clima. It is the open-air cinema review promoted by Avis Comunale di Jesi in the garden of Casa Avis, at Via G. Guerri 5, and is part of the rich Jesi Estate programme, the cultural events that liven up the city for almost four months.

A theme that speaks to the present

As the title suggests, the 2026 edition chooses a precise point of view: the two major issues of our time, conflicts and the climate crisis. The screenings are designed to take the viewer beyond a simple evening of entertainment, towards a shared reflection on peace, the environment, rights, and collective responsibility. This is a choice consistent with the nature of Avis, an association of volunteers and donors: cinema becomes an opportunity to convey values of solidarity and active citizenship.

The Casa Avis Arena

The heart of the review is the Casa Avis Arena, set up in the garden of the headquarters on Via Guerri with a screen for screenings and an audience of about 150 seats. The same space, during the summer, also hosts live music evenings and theatrical performances, confirming itself as one of the most vibrant centres of Jesi's summer. The atmosphere is that of a cosy and familiar neighbourhood open-air cinema, with catering available during the evenings.

When it takes place

In 2026, Tempo Supplementare offers nine evenings, all starting at 9:15 PM: it begins on June 23rd, continues on July 2nd, 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th, and concludes with the events on August 4th and 25th. A schedule that accompanies the viewer throughout the summer, until the last evenings of August.

A tradition that is renewed

The review is the thematic evolution of Casa Avis's historic summer open-air cinema programming, which over the years has brought major Italian and international film titles, documentaries, and special guests to Jesi. For the public of the Vallesina and the entire Province of Ancona, it has become a summer evening reference point, marked by good cinema and engagement.
