The historical reenactment of the 18th century in the historic center of Osimo
Rivivi 700 is the historical reenactment that every summer brings the historic center of Osimo, in the Province of Ancona, back to the atmosphere of the 18th century. It is the only event in the Marche region entirely dedicated to the 1700s, the century that decisively shaped the city's historical and architectural identity. For two August evenings, the streets, squares, and palaces of the Municipality of Osimo transform into an open-air stage populated by costumed figures, ladies, nobles, artisans, and commoners.
The heart of the event is the challenge between the city's four historic terzieri (districts): Episcopio, Piana del Mercato, San Gregorio, and Borgo Cavaticcio. The competition, inspired by the ancient Quintana osimana, sees the districts vying for civic prestige through the Palio della Bandiera (Flag Palio) and historical parades. The most anticipated moment is the Consegna della Bandiera (Flag Handover), a grand procession that crosses the center to Piazza Duomo, in front of the Cathedral of San Leopardo.
During the two days, the entire center of Osimo comes alive with a widespread program:
Created to enhance Osimo's Baroque heritage, the event has grown over time, involving about a hundred costumed participants and numerous local associations. It is organized by the association Gli Alfieri della Storia, with the patronage of the Municipality of Osimo and the support of local partners. Rivivi 700 is now one of the most characteristic events of the Osimo summer, successfully combining historical research, entertainment, and conviviality in one of the most fascinating art cities in the Marche.
The 18th-century historical reenactment returns to Osimo on Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8, 2026. The dates are confirmed by the official calendar of festivals and sagre of the Municipality of Osimo. As per tradition, the historic center will host costume parades, the Palio dei Terzieri, artisan and agricultural markets, taverns, and evening shows. The complete program, with precise times and locations, will be announced by the association Gli Alfieri della Storia in the weeks leading up to the event.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published. Based on previous editions, the following are expected: historical parades in 18th-century costumes, the Palio dei Terzieri (Episcopio, Piana del Mercato, San Gregorio, Borgo Cavaticcio), the Consegna della Bandiera procession towards Piazza Duomo, an arts and crafts market in Piazza del Comune, taverns with typical products, historical dances, and entertainment shows. Specific dates and times will be released by the organizers closer to the event.
