The festival of wandering stories by Max Cimatti in Jesi
Jesinfabula is the summer series of readings and storytelling that every year accompanies the evenings in Jesi, in the province of Ancona, in the heart of the Marche region. Part of the Jesi Estate program promoted by the Municipality of Jesi, the event is conceived and led by actor and storyteller Max Cimatti, who with his "festival of wandering stories" transforms courtyards, parks, and city neighborhoods into open-air stages.
The common thread of the series is itinerant storytelling: short journeys in which Max Cimatti gives voice to often forgotten events and characters, who have remained on the margins of great stories. With a style suspended between narrative theater and public reading, each evening creates a secluded and intimate atmosphere, where the audience is invited to listen, imagine, and be carried away without leaving their city.
The heart of the events is the Cortile dell'Ex Appannaggio, one of the most evocative spaces in the historic center of Jesi, which becomes an open-air lounge for storytelling on summer evenings. Over the years, the festival has also touched other city locations, such as Parco del Vallato, confirming its itinerant nature and its proximity to different neighborhoods.
Spread over several events between July and September, Jesinfabula offers a calendar that spans the entire Jesi summer, with free evenings designed for families, theater enthusiasts, and the curious of all ages. The festival stems from the experience of Max Cimatti, a narrator and performer active in theaters in the Marche and Emilia-Romagna regions, and dialogues with the path of the Festival Sconfinati, dedicated to stories of borders and journeys.
For those visiting the Marche in the summer, Jesinfabula is an opportunity to discover Jesi in a different light: not only a city of art and the birthplace of Frederick II and Pergolesi, but also a place of shared words and stories that continue to travel.
For summer 2026, the festival of wandering stories returns with four events scheduled for July 7 and 14, August 18, and September 1, 2026, hosted in the Cortile dell'Ex Appannaggio in Jesi. As tradition dictates, the evenings are led by Max Cimatti with his itinerant narratives dedicated to characters and events on the margins of great stories.
The events are part of the Jesi Estate 2026 program and are free to enter. The detailed program for each evening, with titles and times, will be communicated by the Municipality of Jesi closer to the event.
Four evenings of readings and storytelling with Max Cimatti: July 7, July 14, August 18, and September 1, 2026, in the Cortile dell'Ex Appannaggio. Detailed titles and times for each event will be published by the Municipality of Jesi in the Jesi Estate 2026 program.
Jesi can be reached by car from the Jesi exit of the SS76 Ancona-Rome highway. By train, Jesi station is on the Rome-Ancona line via Falconara; Marche Airport (Ancona-Falconara) is about 20 km away. The Cortile dell'Ex Appannaggio is located in the historic center, reachable on foot from the main city parking lots.
Jesinfabula events are free to enter. Evenings are usually held in the evening; updated dates, locations, and times are published in the Jesi Estate program on the Municipality of Jesi website.
As these are outdoor events, it is advisable to arrive a little early to find a seat. In case of bad weather, check for any venue changes.
